Manoj Bajpayee Shares His Wife, Shabana Raza's Finger Was Bitten By Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 'Because..'

Manoj Bajpayee has unconditional love for his wife, Shabana Raza a.k.a Neha Bajpai. Shabana made her Bollywood debut in 1998 with the movie, Kareeb next to Bobby Deol. She was also seen in Fiza opposite Hrithik Roshan, did Pyaar Ki Jeet with Ajay Devgn and in the Tamil movie, Alli Thandha Vaanam with Prabhu Deva. However, do you know that filmmaker, Vidhu Vinod Chopra had bit Shabana's finger?

During an interview with Mid Day, Manoj remembered an incident that involved his wife, Shabana. This was when she was shooting for her debut movie, Kareeb in 1998. Manoj revealed that the director had bitten Shabana's hand as she had raised the wrong hand, while a scene was being shot. Manoj said that he would never have tolerated if he would have been at the place of his wife. In his words:

"Because Shabana didn’t have any film training of that sort, in the song she was raising a different hand altogether. In the scene, she was supposed to raise her left hand, but she would end up raising her right hand… so for her to raise the left hand without forgetting, Vidhu bit her there. Nobody can do this with me.”

Manoj also shared that as she was new to the movie industry, she did not know if Vidhu Vinod's action was appropriate and thought this was the way filmmakers behaved. She must have thought they are all mad geniuses; they are capable of doing anything they want. Sadly, the film, Kareeb directed by Vidhu Vinod, tanked at the box office.

Shabana had also shared screen space with Kannada superstar, Shiva Rajkumar, Irrfan Khan, Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea and Aftab Shivdasani among the other stars. However, she was not seen on the big screen after her movie, Acid Factory. This was after 2009 when she was married to the actor. Manoj said:

"She didn’t quit films, she stopped getting work for some reason. Too many politics here and there. She is also an outsider and didn’t have any mentor.”

For Bajpayee, it was love at first sight. He and Shabana met one another for the first time at the 100th episode party of Hansal Mehta's Khana Khazana. He was charmed by Shabhana and was impressed by her real beauty. During an interview with the Humans Of Bombay, Manoj recalled:

“To my luck, she loved spending that evening with me. I was completely mesmerised. Not only with her beauty but also with the fact that she was there with oiled hair, at such a big party and didn’t care about what others are going to say! The real person inside her really impressed me more than her beauty."
