Manmohan Singh became India's 13th Prime Minister on May 22, 2004, after Atal Bihari Vajpayee's reign came to an end. The esteemed politician was 71 years old when he took the mantle of leading a nation full of dreams and extraordinary potential. Manmohan Singh was the first Sikh Prime Minister in India's history, and his impressive work during his first tenure is the reason why he took the oath as the country's PM again on May 22, 2009.
After leading India for eight years as Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh passed the torch to Narendra Modi, who is eyeing becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister. For the uninitiated, Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92, at AIIMS Delhi. According to a report in NDTV, there's a strong possibility that the centre will declare a seven-day mourning in honour of India's ex-Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Union government declared a seven-day state mourning as a mark of respect to the legendary politician. According to the latest reports, Manmohan Singh's last rites will be held in New Delhi, and the funeral will be performed with state honours on December 28, 2024. The late politician is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters, Upinder Singh, Daman Singh, and Amrit Singh.
The entire social media is filled with posts featuring Manmohan Singh's iconic line, "History will be kinder to me than the contemporary media," a statement he gave ahead of the 2014 elections. It's fair to say that Manmohan Singh is one of the most sought-after politicians in Indian politics, which is why everyone is affected by the heartbreaking news of his demise. It's a hard time for Manmohan Singh's family, and people are curious to know how much wealth he left for his family.
According to a report in News24, Manmohan Singh filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat in 2018, in which he revealed everything about his wealth. As per the affidavit, Manmohan Singh's total assets were valued at Rs. 15.77 crore back then. The affidavit also revealed that the iconic economist owned flats in Delhi and Chandigarh. Manmohan Singh had no debt, which was not a surprise, knowing he was a mastermind economist.

The report further stated that Manmohan Singh's total income for 2018-19 was around Rs. 90 lakhs. The combined value of his properties in Delhi and Chandigarh was around Rs. 7.27 crore back in 2018-19, which has probably skyrocketed to a huge amount in all these years. Back in 2013, Manmohan Singh had Rs. 3.46 crore in investments and deposits in his SBI account.
The same affidavit also revealed that the late politician had Rs. 30,000 in cash and also owned jewellery worth Rs. 3.86 lakhs. Not only this, in the 2013 affidavit, Manmohan Singh had Rs. 12.76 lakhs in the Postal Saving Scheme. Besides all the investments and assets, India's former PM was also a proud owner of a Maruti 800 car. We hope Manmohan Singh's wealth helps his family financially in times of crisis. However, as per multiple reports, all three daughters work at well-reputed positions in their respective careers.
