Indian film director, Mani Ratnam is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and needs no introduction as he was the man behind movies like Nayakan, Roja, Dil Se…, Kannathil Muthamittal, Yuva, Guru, and the list goes on. The legendary director, Mani Ratnam and Suhasini had worked together in multiple films, which had helped them develop a strong bond with each other.
Mani Ratnam and Suhasini Hasan married in year 1988, and even to this very day, the couple never shies away from crediting each other for massive success in their respective careers. On one side, Mani Ratnam isn't on social media. On the other side, Suhasini is quite active on Instagram but rarely shares pictures with her husband. However, on October 27, 2019, Suhasini had shared a picture with her hubby, Mani Ratnam from their Deepavali celebrations, and the couple had looked breathtakingly beautiful together.

In 2016, in an interview with Hindu, Mani Ratnam's wife, Suhasini Maniratnam had opened up about her life choices and had also made a headline-breaking remark on her husband. When Suhasini was asked to name the greatest love of her life, the actress had clearly stated that music is her love. She had said, "My love is music ...I do not give too much importance to love and romance." The doting wife had also added that her husband, Mani Ratnam is her greatest love. She had added, "Having said that, Mani is my greatest love." Suhasini had also labelled her husband, Mani Ratnam a chronic romantic. She had said, "He's a chronic romantic."

Going further in her candid interview, when Suhasini Maniratnam was asked to name her favourite journey so far in her life. The actress had talked about her vacation to the Maldives with her husband, Mani Ratnam, when their son, Nandan was a small kid. She had revealed, "To Maldives with my son and husband. We went twice when he was a child."

At the end of her interview, Suhasini Maniratnam had also opened up about her greatest fear in life and had revealed that she couldn't deal with the sound of waterfalls. The actress had also recalled a dangerous incident that had happened when she was vacationing in Malaysia with her friends and husband, Mani Ratnam and couldn't swim because of Katarraktiphobia, the fear of waterfalls.
She had said, "The sound of water… actually the sound of waterfalls. I can't deal with the sound of pouring water. I remember going to Malaysia, and we were at a pond. We were swimming to reach the place behind the waterfall. But I froze at the sound of water. I could not swim back. Mani and a friend had to literally carry me back."

When Mani Ratnam met Suhasini Hasan for the first time, the iconic director was 33 years old, and he had started making a name for himself in the industry. But on the flip side, Suhasini was an established actress at that time and was riding high on the professional front. Once in an interview with a media portal, Suhasini Maniratnam had revealed that when Mani Ratnam had approached her with the idea of a relationship, she had turned him down. The actress had clearly stated to Mani Ratnam that she is a traditional girl and is only interested in marriage instead of relationships.
It was a tough decision to make, but Mani Ratnam was so clear in his mind and heart that he had wasted no time in saying yes to Suhasini. After which, the madly-in-love couple tied the marital knot in 1988. After some years in 1992, Mani Ratnam and Suhasini were blessed with a baby boy, and the two had lovingly named him Nandan Maniratnam.

To which, the actress-turned-director had clearly stated that a lot of its credit goes to her husband, Mani Ratnam. She had said, "The advantage for me is, I have a husband who is straightforward. He and I think alike."
Suhasini had also added that her husband never disturbs her when she's at work. She had added, "When there is a crisis in the house, I don't expect him to drop work and come to help me out. If I think I might make a mistake, I might consult him. Mani will not disturb me at work if there is a crisis."

Top of it, Suhasini had also proved the mettle of her direction with so many films in her kitty. However, their son, Nandan Maniratnam have chosen a completely different path in his life, as he wants to become a politician and is studying politics at Oxford University.
The youngster always tries his best to stay away from all the limelight. However, on March 22, 2020, Suhasini had shared a rare glimpse of her son, Nandan from his self quarantine. Along with video, Suhasini had written, "Self quarantine of nandhan maniRatnam. Stay home stay safe."
