Former Bollywood actress, Mamta Kulkarni has been hogging all the headlines since the news of her embarking on her spiritual journey broke out on January 24, 2025. The former actress was made the 'Mahamandaleshwar' of the Kinnar Akhara at the Maha Kumbh. However, days after her ordination, the actress announced that she would be stepping down from the position.

This announcement by Mamta Kulkarni comes days after spiritual gurus have questioned her ordination. The former actress has received severe backlash since she was appointed and has now announced her resignation amid internal conflicts. The actress took to her Instagram handle on February 10, 2025, and shared a video sharing the news. In the clip, Mamta can be heard saying:

"I, Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamta Nandgiri, am resigning from this post. The respect given to me was for my 25 years of penance, but some people have a problem with me being Mahamandaleshwar."

Mamta Kulkarni expresses her disappointment in being judged because of her acting career

In the same video, Mamta can further be heard expressing her disappointment in being judged for her career as an actress. The former actress also addressed the questions aimed at her spiritual authenticity. She added that she doesn't need to go to Kailash or Manasarovar as the whole world is already in front of her. She was quoted saying:

"I left Bollywood 25 years ago and disappeared on my own. Who stays so far away from makeup and glamour otherwise? My Guru, Shri Chaitanya Gagangiri Maharaj, was a Siddha Mahapurush. I have done 25 years of penance with him. I don’t need to go to Kailsa, Manasarovar, or the Himalayas because all the worlds are already in front of me."

Mamta Kulkarni accused Kinnar Akhara of being disconnected from Brahma Vidya

Mamta Kulkarni continued the video and revealed how there was a quarrel between two Akharas because of her ordination. She further accused the Kinnar Akhara of being disconnected from 'Brahma Vidya'. She called them egoistic and stated that they fight among themselves because they have no understanding of the truth. In the video, Mamta also stated that she has chosen peace over the chaos which has been going on for the past few weeks.

Mamta Kulkarni reveals she didn't have the money to join the Akhara

Mamta Kulkarni answered every question being aimed at her over the past few weeks. During the conversation, she even revealed that she didn't have the money to join the Akharawhich was ultimately given by Jai Ambagiri Mahamandaleshwar on her behalf. However, she now feels it will be in the best interest of all if she steps away. She was quoted saying:

"When I was asked for Rs 2 lakhs, I didn’t have it. Jai Ambagiri Mahamandaleshwar gave it from his pocket. The money I have comes from deep penance, not material pursuits. This post was a certificate for sharing knowledge, but perhaps it’s a sign that I should step away. I am returning it with gratitude. Namaste."
