People often believe that miracles happen in only fictional TV shows and films. Several netizens call out some filmmakers for the same, but what if an actor experiences that in real life? Prominent TV and film actor, Mahesh Thakur, who is admired for his charming looks, polite nature and versatile acting, recently shared one such incident from his life where he lost his home in an ancestral dispute but soon got two more by winning them in a TV show that he didn't sign up for. Here's what happened.
Mahesh Thakur appeared on the talk show, Chitt Ki Baat, where he shared some untold stories from his life. The actor revealed that he believes in the presence of a supreme power and practices spirituality. Mahesh shared one such experience where he felt this presence after he lost his home in an ancestral dispute in 1996. It was around the time that he got married and moved out with his wife, Sapna, to start a new life. Sharing how his wife sent a postcard for a TV show that gave random prizes to people based on a lottery system, he said:
"My wife, Sapna, participated in a home TV family contest that was happening. We had to write answers on a postcard and send them to the channel office. The competition was open in India, Dubai, and other places. My wife sent eight names of my sister, father and all who were close to us and sent all those postcards."
Mahesh knew nothing about his wife's decision to send postcards and, one day, watched that show where the host pulled out his name to announce that he had won a house. Since he was unaware, the actor thought that a person with a similar name won the house, while he lost his house. But things changed when he got a call from someone who said they wanted to visit him and give him a good news. Mahesh invited them to his house without thinking much, and the whole TV crew turned up. In his words:
"I am seeing that on TV but didn't knew it was me because I didn't send that postcard; my wife did. I was like Mera hi naam nikla hai, woh bhi ghar and here I have just lost a house. Within 2 days, I get a call that someone wants to come and give me good news. Maine bola aa jao and the TV crew came home; it's Mini Mathur, Kabir Khan. At that time, he was doing this show. I think he made a movie with Salman. He was the director cum cameraman, and they broke the news to me that I won a house."
The Hum Saath Saath Hain actor connected his win with the show he saw a few days ago. But it left him puzzled because he didn't send it. So, he called his wife, Sapna, who was somewhere else, and she revealed that she was the one to send those postcards. Recalling his surprise, Mahesh revealed that the first prize was a house under his name, while the second was a big shift to a 40-inch TV. At the same time, the prizes included two 1 BHK flats at DS Kulkarni in Kalyan, which were valued at Rs. 25 lakh in 1996. He couldn't stop thinking about how little chance there was of something like this happening, and he called it a 'big miracle' of his life.
In the same conversation, Mahesh Thakur shared that he was born in India but grew up with his parents in Panama, Central America. He used to work with his father on their business until the Panama war, when closed business and his grandmother's ill health forced him to come back. One day, he went on a walk with his dog, where he met Satluj Dheer, brother of Pankaj Dheer, who randomly gave him an ad and one thing after the other followed. Mahesh Made his debut with Jaaneman in early 90s and went on to star in popular films and TV shows like Hum Saath Saath Hai, Faltu, Aashiqui 2, Jai Ho, Sasural Genda Phool, Ishqbaaz etc.
