Mahesh Manjrekar's First Wife, Deepa Passes Away, Children Chose To Stay With Father After Divorce

Veteran actor, and director, Mahesh Manjrekar's first wife, Deepa Mehta, passed away on September 27, 2025. Mahesh and Deepa's son, Satya Manjrekar, announced the same on his Instagram handle and penned a goodbye note, talking about her presence in his life.

Deepa Mehta and Mahesh Manjrekar have two children, Ashwami Manjrekar and Satya Manjrekar. Satya took to his Instagram handle and shared an old photo of his mother, Deepa Mehta. He stated that he still misses his mumma. In another post, he stated that his mother was more than just a mother, but an inspiration for him. He highlighted how his mother's achievement and wrote:

"Lost a guiding light today. She was more than just a mother. She was more than a mother, she was an inspiration. Her strength, courage and passion in building her saree business empowered so many girls to dream big. She will always live on through the lives she has touched and the paths she paved."

For the unversed, Mahesh Manjrekar and Deepa Mehta have been together since their college days in 1987. The couple embraced parenthood with two children, a daughter, Ashwami Manjrekar, and a son, Satya Manjrekar. However, their relationship hit a rough patch, and they got divorced in 1995. Talking about their children, Ashwami and Satya, with their father, Mahesh Manjrekar.

Talking about Deepa, she started off as a costume designer in Bollywood. She also started her own saree brand called Queen of Hearts. Her sarees were in demand not just in Marathi films but also in Bollywood. In fact, Deepa and Mahesh's daughter, Ashwami Manjrekar, models for the brand, and she is also trying her hand at acting like her father.

Mahesh Manjrekar's second marriage

In 1995, after divorcing his first wife, Mahesh Manjrekar fell in love again in the same year with Medha. The veteran actor met Medha while directing the film, Aai. It was love at first sight, and Mahesh was the one who wanted to cast her in his film. And he even managed to get Medha's phone number from Neena Kulkarni. 

He was hell-bound on casting Medha, but she had a condition. Since she was on a European trip at the time, she said that she would shoot once she returned from the trip. Mahesh agreed in an instant, and he postponed the shoot for her. It is also reported that Mahesh once wrote a love letter with blood to Medha. It is worth mentioning that she was nine-year-old older than him. The couple got blessed with a daughter, Saiee Manjrekar. 

Additionally, it is worth noting that Saiee Manjrekar also followed in her father's footsteps and pursued a career in acting. She made her acting debut in Bollywood with her father in Salman Khan's Dabangg 3. She worked in films that included Major and Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaa.
