On November 10, 1967, iconic actor, Ashutosh Rana was born in the Gadarwara district of Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. From his early teenage days, he was always fascinated by dramatics. When he was a kid, he used to participate in Ramleela events, where he used to play the demon, 'Raavana'. Right from his younger days, Ashutosh was famous for his villainous expressions, which was why he had mostly played 'Raavana' in Ramleela events. However, no one in their wildest dreams had thought that one day this young boy dressed as 'Raavana' would go on to become one of the most fearsome villains in the history of Hindi cinema.
The legendary actor has worked in showbiz for more than 25 years, and in all these years, he has terrified people, made audiences cry, and impressed critics with his versatility as an actor. Talking about his personal life, Ashutosh Rana is happily married to the love of his life, Renuka Shahane. The much-in-love couple had met for the first time on the sets of Hansal Mehta's directorial debut film, Jayate, back in 2001. They had clicked instantly. While the film was never released, it turned out to be the most special project for both Ashutosh and Renuka. After dating each other for some time, they had got married on May 25, 2001.

Just like every outsider in Mumbai, Ashutosh Rana also struggled in the city of dreams for his first break. Despite being an alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD), he needed help to advertise his talent and potential to filmmakers and producers. That's when he had an encounter with the critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt, and something happened sour and sweet happened between them that had changed Ashutosh Rana's life forever.
If the reports are to be believed, one day, Ashutosh Rana decided to meet Mahesh Bhatt, who was reportedly preparing to make Swabhimaan. However, the moment Ashutosh Rana saw the filmmaker, he immediately touched his feet as per Indian traditions, but it made Mahesh Bhatt extremely furious. The director was against the idea of touching someone's feet, which was why he threw out the aspiring actor from the sets of his film. The incident left everyone on the set shocked. However, Mahesh Bhatt kept on scolding his security for letting such a person under the premises of his film's sets. While Mahesh thought that it was the end of that uncomfortable incident with Ashutosh, the latter wasn't bothered by it at all.

After the incident, Ashutosh Rana kept on trying his luck to meet Mahesh Bhatt and one day, when he got the chance to get close to him, the former touched his feet once again. However, this time, the filmmaker asked Ashutosh to explain why he touched his feet every time he saw him.
Answering this, the aspiring actor had responded by him saying that his parents taught him to greet elders by touching their feet so that he could get proper blessings from them. The truthfulness of Ashutosh Rana numbed Mahesh Bhatt, and the filmmaker wasted no time in giving the aspiring actor his much-needed acting debut.
Thus, the actor kick-started his acting career with the prominent serial, Swabhimaan, which introduced him to both the television and film industries. Soon, he started getting a lot of projects, and Ashutosh Rana's journey in Mumbai had kick-started in the best way possible. Ashutosh Rana and Mahesh Bhatt share a beautiful bond with each other, and together they had worked in two films, Jakhm and Dushman.
The man, the myth, the legend, Ashutosh Rana is simply a gift of God to Bollywood, as the kind of versatility he offers in his acting is simply unparalleled.
