Maheep Kapoor Trolled As She Says, 'Mai English Mein Kar Rahi Hoon' At IIFA: 'English Kaunsi Achi..'

Maheep Kapoor rose to stardom with the Netflix series, Bollywood Wives Fabulous Lives. She was a star on the show as she spilt many personal life secrets and also accepted how she had forgiven her husband, Sanjay Kapoor, when he got carried away in their marriage. Recently, she made an appearance with her girl gang, Neelam and Seema Sajdeh, at the IIFA 2025. 

Maheep Kapoor's video from the IIFA red carpet went viral, leaving netizens irked

In a video from the IIFA red carpet, Maheep Kapoor was seen giving a byte. However, just before the camera was rolled, she came up to the photographer and told her that she was going to speak in English. However, the way she gave a heads-up, left netizens irked as they pointed on how her English and Hindi both were not up to the mark. She said:

"Mai English mein kar rahi hoon."

When the interviewer questioned her how excited she was for the performance and 25 years of IIFA. To which, she said, "Very excited, I am so excited that it is here in Jaipur, we are nominated also she I am even more excited and I am excited to see Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and many people. So very excited."

Further, the interviewer asked her to say something about her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor, who is all set to make her debut. Maheep made a heart with fingers and said, "Please, I just want your love and blessings, and I'm excited."

Netizens reacted to Maheep Kapoor's 'English accent'

As soon as the video made rounds on the internet, netizens flooded the comments section. One user pointed out at her English and said, "Her English is not even that good , just basic English that most of the people these days speak, she still stutters , is unable to find adjectives, using over used words . Hindi English dono kharab hai. Totally agree with one of the comments above “neither suited for hindi movies nor English."

A second user commented, "Yep exactly, most of them have a normal level English speaking skills , if they portray themselves as “idk Hindi, Hindi ew” they should be proficient with english . Thank god she didn’t use 'like'." A third user penned, "Ye logo ko hindi cinema main mein kaam karne ki tadap kyu hai jab hindi fluent nahi hai. You are acting in Hindi movies; you should have comfortable Hindi diction, but ofc no babies."

For the awards night, Maheep was dressed up in a pretty silver-hued gown with a deeply lunging neckline. She styled her look with gorgeous diamond neckpiece which accentuated her look further. Talking about her makeup, subtle makeup with soft pink blush and hair left open completed her look.
