Maheep Kapoor is a reality TV personality and business-woman who most recently starred in Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives on Netflix. She is among the most popular and savage of the Bollywood spouses. Her eccentric and playful personality won people over, and the diva never hesitates to voice her opinions or carry out her own plans. In an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, she recently discussed her experience and stated that her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor, persuaded her to be a part of the show.
Maheep Kapoor disclosed that on a plane, Karan Johar approached them with the idea of making a show about their lives. She initially didn't take it seriously, believing him to be joking. But after a while, she started to have second thoughts and was hesitant to join. She focused on her job, kids, and gym and was happy with her routine. She questioned whether she really needed or wanted to be on the show.

However, Maheep's children, Shanaya and Jahaan, ultimately encouraged and convinced their mother to take this opportunity. They also emphasised that she would be in good hands with Netflix and Dharma. This is such a good opportunity for their mother, which shouldn't be missed. Maheep expressed that their support helped her get out of her comfort zone. She further stated that life is all about exploring new things. In her words:
"It’s no news that Karan Johar came to us with the idea of making a show on us on a flight. Of course, we thought at that time that he was kidding, but to cut a long story short, I was not ready to be on the show. I’m a middle-aged woman and I was very comfortable in my space and in my routine with my gym, my kids, my work. Did I really need this or did I really want this was the constant question running in my mind. But, then, it was both my kids who gave me the confidence. Both Shanaya and Jahaan sat me down and said it was Netflix and Dharma and that I was in such good hands and how could I say no when an opportunity like this has knocked at my door, so it was them who gave me a go ahead and said you live once, just go do it."
When Maheep Kapoor decided to commit to the show, she thought back on the advice her husband, Sanjay, had given her. He warned her against approaching him for help if she encountered any criticism or trolling. Whether the play fared poorly or if social media opinions were unfavourable, he advised her to be ready for the worst. She expressed:
"Sanjay honestly had just one thing to tell me and that was, don’t come running to me and sit on my head when all the trolling happens if at all. Be prepared. You just be ready for the worse. If the show doesn’t do well, or you face any kind of social media trolling, then don’t come to me. You should be prepared to know how to deal with it."
The support of her close friends and family comforted Maheep in spite of the uncertainty. She was assured that Dharma, Karan Johar, and the whole team were there to support her. Having her friends, Bhavana, Neelam, and Seema, by her side also gave her the courage to proceed with the choice.
The comfort of knowing she wouldn't be travelling alone at that time was more important than the possible dangers. According to Maheep, it was a group event in which everyone stood together, prepared to take on any challenge. In her words:
"I told myself that I’m in a very safe space with Dharma and Karan and the whole crew along with all of my friends, Bhavana, Neelam and Seema and that motivated me to go ahead and say a yes. At that point it was more like there’s going to be some solace even if we drown together, we are there for each other."
