In a recent interview with ANI, Madhuri Dixit opened up about the gender-based pay inequality issue that is still present in today’s world. Looking back at her journey in Bollywood, where she has worked with top Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri shared that the imbalance in payments is universal. She highlighted that every profession has such indifference in payments. She mentioned everyone is struggling due to this ongoing issue. She later added that women should be paid more, or there should be a balance. She was quoted as saying:
"In any field, even in corporate businesses or anywhere, there’s always pay parity. Everybody is struggling for that, and everybody is trying to state the fact that women should be paid more, not more than the actor, but at least somewhere, you know, where it’s balanced."

According to a report by Bollywood Bubble, Madhuri opened up about the gender pay gap during the segment, The Journey of Women in Cinema hosted by the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2025. She highlighted how women constantly need to prove themselves. She mentioned that the pay disparity still exists in society. She was quoted as saying:
"I think for the women, they have to prove themselves time and again, and to say that we’re equal, we can bring the audience to the theatres, we can do that, but we have to prove it every single time. And yes, there is still a disparity. It’s like pushing the envelope every time, a little bit more; We are still a long way from actually when disparity doesn’t happen. I think we have a long way to go, and we have to kind of work every day towards that."
