'Tower House' Actress, Madhumati Passes Away At Age Of 87, Akshay Kumar And Vindu Dara Pay Tribute

Veteran actress and classical dancer, Madhumati, who is known for her graceful performances in iconic Bollywood films like Ankhen, Mujhe Jeene Do and Shikari, has passed away on October 15, 2025. Her unexpected death has left a void in the Indian film industry, where she was celebrated not only for her acting skills but also for her contribution to the cinema.

Veteran actress and dancer, Madhumati passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 87. She was trained in classical dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kathakali, and began her career at the same in 1957. The exact reason for her tragic death is unknown. Fans across social media have expressed their sadness and grief over the actress' passing.

Apart from fans grieving over Madhumati’s unexpected passing, Bollywood actors, Akshay Kumar and Vindu Dara Singh also took to their X (Formerly Twitter) handles to share some unseen photos and pay a heartfelt tribute to the dancer. While remembering the legendary performer, Akshay Kumar penned:

"My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti." 

Apart from Akshay Kumar, actor, Vindu Dara Singh, who is known for his roles in films like Son of Sardaar, Housefull, Partner, Kambakkht Ishq and more, also took to his X handle to pay tribute to the late dancer. He shared that Madhumati was his teacher and guide. He also revealed that she was the guru of many artists. He had shared:

"Rest in peace our teacher and guide #Madhumati ji. A beautiful life led filled with love and blessings from so many of us who learnt dancing from this legend."

More about Madhumati

Reportedly, Madhumati was born on May 30, 1938, in Maharashtra. She was one of the most celebrated and talented dancers and actors in the film industry. She was well-known for her dancing skills and charming screen presence. Allegedly, she faced societal challenges in pursuing her passion for dance, but her determination led her to become one of the most respected artists. 

Madhumati made her film debut in 1957, with an unreleased Marathi film. Over the years, because of her dancing skills, she was compared to legendary, Helen. Apart from being an artist, she was also the mentor of Akshay Kumar, Vindu Dara Singh and Govinda. In her personal life, Madhumati was married to Deepak Manohar, who was a respected dancer. Reportedly, she got married to him at the age of 19.
