Cancer is a foe that we all fright from and the entire family gets subjected to its outcome. The mere mention of the word 'cancer' gives us jitters and we all secretly pray for the well being of our close ones. However, the entire nation was left in shock when Bollywood actor, Sanjay Dutt had shared a cryptic post regarding his health and taking a short break from work. After which, reports of him being diagnosed with cancer started making rounds on the internet. Later, it was revealed that Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer and he had been taking chemotherapy sessions for the same in Mumbai. It was a film critic, Komal Nahta, who had confirmed that Sanjay Dutt's cancer reports. And that's when we spotted the entire Dutt family coming together to support their brother, Sanjay in his fight with the deadly disease. After a tough fight, Sanjay had shared with his fans that he is cancer-free.
On the occasion of Dussehra, Sanjay Dutt's wife, Maanayata Dutt penned a lovely note for him. She shared a video of her hubby performing a puja wearing white ethnic ensemble. Alongside it, Maanayata wrote, "Dedicating this Dusshera to someone who has been such an inspiration not only to me but to so many others. Life has thrown many difficulties at him, but he has always fought back with patience, grace and love. And when we thought we finally had peace, life threw yet another challenge. Today he has once again proven that a positive mind can win and conquer the worst situation with resilience and courage! There is truly no one like you Sanju, you taught me when the going gets tough, only the tough get going. You are my strength, my pride, My Ram! #VijayaDashami bhava!! Sanjay Dutt had shared the happy news of defeating cancer on his kids, Shahraan and Iqra's 10th birthday. The actor had released the official statement and had shared that he had defeated cancer. His statement could be read as "The last few weeks were very difficult time for my family and me. But like they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can- the health and well being of our family. This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time. Sanjay had expressed gratitude towards the hospital staff of Kokilaben and had shared, "This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time. Thank you for the love, kindness and the countless blessings that you have sent my way. I am especially grateful to Dr. Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of me in the last few weeks. Humbled and grateful."

Prior to reports of Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with cancer, the actor was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, after he had complained of breathlessness. The actor had taken to his Twitter handle and had tweeted about his health, "Just wanted to assure everyone that I'm doing well. I'm currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two."
