Lori Loughlin Fell In Love With Mossimo Giannulli When She Was Still Married To Michael R. Burns

American actress, Lori Ann Loughlin gained recognition when she played ‘Rebecca Donaldson Katsopolis’ on the sitcom, Full House. She later reprised the role for its Netflix sequel, Fuller House. She is also known for her roles in The Edge of Night, Garage Sale Mystery, When Calls the Heart and a few others.

Lori is currently leading the headlines after it was reported that the actress is separating from her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, after 28 years of marriage. Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, who have two daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, are reportedly living apart, but no legal proceedings have been filed yet.

It was in 1989 when Lori married Michael R Burns, the Vice Chairman of Lionsgate. The duo stayed in a happy marriage but had no kids together. However, after seven years of togetherness, the couple filed for divorce. The reason for their divorce was not revealed at that time. But in 2018, during an interview with Closer Weekly, Lori revealed the reason behind splitting from her first husband and said:

“He was a great human being, but I just felt he wasn't the one for me. I was probably too young and didn't know enough about what I needed. But I couldn't say one bad thing about him. He was a really nice person."

As per multiple reports, there was some overlap between Lori’s first marriage and the time she fell in love with Mossimo. As per the Hollywood Reporter, Lori met Mossimo in 1995, but her divorce from Michael was finalised in 1996. When Lori was introduced to Mossimo at a Los Angeles restaurant, she was already going through a rough patch in her marriage. Speaking about him, she once said:

“I just knew when I met Moss that he was my guy.”

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli dated for two years before getting married. Despite the celebrity status both Lori and Mossimo had, the couple didn’t have a lavish wedding. Instead, they eloped and got married. Speaking about the same in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lori revealed:

“Yeah, we got up on Thanksgiving morning'. We had Moss' best friend and a minister meet us, and we got married at sunrise. And then we went to Thanksgiving dinner and we told everybody. We had talked about doing a wedding and we just thought, 'Let's get up and let's go do it.”

Soon after their marriage, Lori and Mossimo welcomed parenthood with the arrival of their daughters, Isabella Rose Giannulli in 1998 and Olivia Jade Giannulli in 1999. Motherhood changed Lori’s perspective on life, and her daughters became her top priority.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s college scandal

It was in 2019 when Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s names surfaced in a college scandal. It was Operation Varsity Blues, the college scandal, that shook the nation. The names of rich and famous parents, who allegedly tried to bribe their children's way into top colleges, surfaced, and Lori and Mossimo featured in it.

According to a report in the BBC, Lori and Mossimo allegedly paid a total of USD 500,000 in bribes to secure their daughters' positions at the University of Southern California. Both girls were admitted as rowing-team recruits, despite not actually being rowers.  They admitted to the plot and were arrested, only to be later released on USD 1 million bail each. After pleading guilty, Lori was sentenced to two months in federal prison, while Mossimo served five months.

Lori and Mossimo were head over heels in love with each other. But the college scandal broke them apart. Sources close to the couple claim they had been struggling for years after the 2019 college admissions scandal, which is believed to have significantly strained their relationship. Loughlin's representative, Elizabeth Much, told PEOPLE:

“They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage. There are no legal proceedings at this time.”
