Lokah chapter 1: Chandra has become the first movie in Mollywood to mark Rs. 150 crore at the box office. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 30 crore, the movie was able to gross more than Rs. 300 crore at the global box office. The movie is the first part of the Lokahverse, which will reportedly feature a total of five films, with Chapter 2 already being confirmed.
Well, the lead in this movie was Kalyani Priyadarshan, who played the role of 'Chandra'. She, along with her co-star, did so amazingly well while essaying their roles that the audience remained hooked to the screens, and now that it reached a wider audience with the OTT release, people are talking more about the film, along with finding layers behind the story, which is made in connection to Kerala folklore.
Amid this, people have been wondering if there had been hints about 'Chandra' following the traits of a vampire. In Lokah Chapter 1, 'Chandra' has been shown as the modern form of Kalliyankattu Neeli (Yakshi and female spirit). 'Chandra's story runs in parallel with 'Neeli's legend, and it has been shown how they had been wronged, and eventually how they became supernatural, while using their power for good.
Now, after rewatching the movie, people can feel that there are even more hidden meanings in the actions, symbols, dialogues, and so on. One such question is whether the lead 'Chandra' possesses any traits of a vampire-like character. First, she works on the night shift, which is a classic example of vampires being active in the nocturnal hours. She also mentioned that her weakness is blood and her heart. In one of the scenes of the song, Kiliye Kiliye, she was seen asking 'Sunny' permission to enter his house. In her childhood, 'Chandra' was infected by a mysterious virus, which turned her into 'Yakshi', super-speedy and immortal.
Not only does this suggest that 'Chandra' is a vampire, but she also bit 'Inspector Nachiyappa', who turned into a 'Yaksha' and was later killed by being stabbed in the heart, a classic of the vampire world. 'Sunny' witnessed that 'Chandra' heals by drinking red liquid after a fight and how sunlight affects her. 'Chandra' also doesn't age at all, and all of these clues hint at the fact that she might be a vampire, which has now been questioned.

Along with depicting 'Chandra' in a modern-day light, who was fighting organ traffickers, a grandfather was also seen telling his granddaughter a story from the past about a little girl becoming a 'Yakshi' and fighting a notorious evil king. Thus, this approach blends two timelines, thereby creating 'Chandra', an immortal, powerful being, with parts similar to vampires.
Kalyani Priyadarshan played the lead role in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, and her skills have been praised everywhere. While not confirmed, if a report by OneIndia is to be believed, she was paid around Rs. 80 lakh to Rs. 1.2 crore for her role in the record-breaking Mollywood film, Lokah Chapter 1.
