'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra', Meet Villain, Sandy Master, A Look At His Marital Life And Fatherhood

Currently, the air is filled with the Lokah vibration. The dark fantasy superhero film, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, made on a budget of Rs. 30 crore, grossed Rs. 340.25 worldwide. After its successful theatrical run, the Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer is gearing up for its digital premiere. For the unversed, the film that was released on August 28, 2025, is scheduled for OTT release on October 31, 2025.

Although Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’s gripping storyline grabbed a lot of attention, it was the performance of the main villain, Sandy Master, who stole the spotlight. Sandy Master, as Inspector 'Nachiyappa Gowda', has grabbed special attention from the audience. Besides being a phenomenal actor, Sandy is also a choreographer. Coming to his personal life, Sandy Master has been married twice and has also experienced fatherhood. Now that Sandy’s performance in Lokah became the talk of the town, let’s learn more about him.

Who is Sandy Master?

Sandy Master was born as Santhosh Kumar on July 5, 1986, to retired police officer, S. Anbuselvan, and homemaker, A. Thilagavathy, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He also has two siblings, a brother, A. Tamilmani, and a sister, Priyadarshini. He completed his schooling at St. Gabriel's School, George Town, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and graduated from Sir Theagaraya College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Sandy began his career as a choreographer on the dance reality TV show, Maanada Mayilada.

He and his team won the show and took home the winner’s trophy. After winning the show, Sandy got several opportunities to choreograph in various other dance shows. He was also hired by Vijay TV, where he began choreographing and appearing on several of the channel's shows. Later, he also had opportunities in the film industry for choreography. In 2014, he began his choreographic career in the Tamil film industry with the movie, Aaaah.

In 2015, he worked on films like Viraivil Isai, Ivanuku Thannila Gandam, and Vaalu. He also worked as a choreographer on films such as Saagasam, Jithan 2, and Gethu. Later, he choreographed songs for several other movies, including Kaala, in which he worked with Tamil superstar, Rajinikanth. He appeared on the popular TV reality show, Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3 in 2019, hosted by Kamal Haasan. He emerged as the first runner-up.

Sandy Master is a phenomenal dancer and conducts workshops

Sandy has immense love for dance since he was a child. According to a report by StarsUnfolded, he has been dancing since he was just 3 years old. Later, he opened three dance studios in his name, Sandy's Dance Studios. He often conducts dance workshops there, attended by dancers from around the globe. He also worked as a judge on the dance reality show, Kings of Dance. He rose to fame for his choreography in Pathala Pathala, Chikitu, and Monica.

Sandy Master's journey as an actor

Sandy made his acting debut with the Tamil comedy film, Ivanuku Thannila Gandam. One of the notable performances that brought him wider fame was his role in Leo. For the uninitiated, the film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. Sandy’s performance as a cold-blooded murderer and chocolate coffee lover had left the audience intrigued. Recently, he also gained significant attention for his role as the main antagonist in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

He played the role of Inspector 'Nachiyappa Gowda', the main villain who made 'Chandra's' (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan) journey tougher. He was the ruthless leader of an organ trafficking gang, who was finally defeated by the female protagonist by bringing justice to the victims in captivity. He will be next seen in the movie, Kishkindhapuri, marking his Telugu debut. He also has the film, Kathanar, co-starring Jayasurya and Baahubali fame, Anushka Shetty, in the pipeline.

In a recent media interaction, Sandy recalled his role in Leo. He shared that the director of Leo, Lokesh, told him not to talk with anyone during the shoot. He highlighted that the horror-like music was used to set his mood and help in the shooting process. Later, Sandy added that he even refrained from going back home. In his words:

"Lokesh sir told me not to talk to anyone during Leo's shoot. He asked me to sit alone and spend time with myself, and said, ‘otherwise you will get relaxed.’ So I would stay in my hotel room, keeping the lights off and playing horror-themed music to set the mood for my role. I mean, that was the role of a real psycho, and I never used to go home while filming it. Unlike playing Nachiyappa in Lokah, during Leo, I used to stay alone and avoid conversations."

Sandy Master's personal life

Sandy Master, a popular Tamil choreographer, first tied the knot with actress, Kaajal Pasupathi, whom he met on the sets of Maanada Mayilada in 2008. After their divorce, he married Dorathy Sylvia on August 20, 2017, and the duo welcomed two children. Although StarsUnfolded claims that Sandy also has two kids from his first marriage, this has not yet been confirmed. Despite their rocky past, Sandy and Kaajal share a cordial bond.

Sandy Master's strong screen presence in both Leo and Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has earned him wider fame. The audience is eagerly waiting for his future works.
