'Stranger Things 5' Linda Hamilton Married Bruce, James Cameron, Divorced Both, Remained Celibate

Linda Hamilton is being loved for her role in 'Stranger Things Season 5'. The actress had mental health issues, faced two divorces, and adopted celibacy.

'Stranger Things 5' Linda Hamilton Married Bruce, James Cameron, Divorced Both, Remained Celibate

Linda Hamilton plays the role of an antagonist named 'Dr Kay' in Stranger Things Season 5.  Her role is new in the sci-fi series, and the 69-year-old has been best known for essaying 'Sarah Connor' in the Terminator movies. During an earlier interview with The Variety, Linda revealed that she has been a big fan of the series and was reluctant to do so, and she was not sure if she could do the same. However, she has been grateful to have gotten the opportunity.

For Linda, success did not come easy to her. After The Terminator, she was seen in a TV series called Beauty and the Beast. Reportedly, she had to leave the same after she became pregnant with the child of her first husband, Bruce Abbott. Sadly, Linda had a painful divorce, and her relationship timeline has been topsy-turvy.

Linda Hamilton's first marriage with Bruce Abbott ended in divorce

Linda had met Bruce back in 1982 on the sets of her first motion picture called, T.A.G- The Assassination Game. He had essayed the role of a psychopath who was trying to kill her. It was on December 19, 1982, that the ex-pair got married. Soon after the birth of their son named, Dalton Bruce Abbott, Linda and Bruce separated by 1989. At one hand, Linda was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at a very early age, and then she refused to take any kind of drug therapy.

Although by the time Linda was 30, she had become melancholic and had to take antidepressants to cure her illness. Her separation from Bruce had added a lot of pain in her life, and earlier in an interview with English Elpais, Linda revealed getting a call from James Cameron (now her second ex-husband) for the second part of The Terminator. Linda saw the opportunity as something where she could vent her pain and stated:

"I just needed to get up on my feet and be strong and do nothing but mother my child and get ready for this film. To give myself permission to be that powerful, strong woman was necessary for my survival.”

Linda as Sarah Conner in James Cameron's The Terminator got skyrocketing fame from 1987 to 1989. She first met James on the sets of the movie, Terminator and after Terminator 2 both of them had moved in together. After dating in 1991, the ex-couple got married in 1997, and by 1999, both of them opted for separation. Earlier, in an interview with the New York Times, Linda revealed that what had brought them together was never love but her character, 'Sarah'. In her words:

"I think what happened there is that he really fell in love with Sarah Connor, and I did, too."

Even when James Cameron was asked if he ever loved Linda or just the character 'Sarah', he shared that he fell in love with Linda as she was little close to Sarah. However, it did not mean that much to him as he then got to know Linda closely and was swooned by her. She had reportedly suffered two miscarriages because of her heavy workouts. It was on February 15, 1993, that Linda and James were blessed with a daughter whom they named Josephine Archer Cameron. Linda had also revealed that they were a 'terribly mismatched' pair. She was also facing mental health issues, and James' intense work commitments.

Linda Hamilton, earlier in an interview with ETonline, opened up about how she lost interest in s**. She shared of loving her alone time and it was like no one she ever met. Confessing to being celibate for more than 15 years, now, Linda, in the interview, remembered her romantic relationships and noted:

"I’ve been celibate for at least 15 years. One loses track, because it just doesn’t matter — or at least it doesn’t matter to me. I have a very romantic relationship with my world every day and the people who are in it.”

Linda had also mentioned of how she would not like to put in a lot of energy into something that was not working out. She referred to the relationship she had with her ex-husband, and back in 2012, she left Malibu for a farmhouse which is located in Virginia, and then in New Orleans, where she reportedly resides.

Earlier, Linda had also shared that with Terminator 2, she felt more powerful, made peace with her separation from Bruce, and gave herself the permission to feel strong as well as powerful at the same time. When she was asked in a New York Times interview about how she became successful with The Terminator, she jokingly quipped about getting pregnant with James Cameron's child and then fully disappearing.
