'I Wasn't Sure If He Was The One': Lin Laishram Recalls Being Unsure About Marrying Randeep Hooda

Bollywood actor, Randeep Hooda’s marriage to model and actress, Lin Laishram stood out for its deep-rooted traditions, setting a refreshing example for modern couples by prioritising cultural authenticity over viral wedding trends. After tying the knot in 2023, the duo have been occasionally spotted together, and even their rare glimpses are enough to melt fans’ hearts. However, their fairytale wasn’t without its share of ups and downs. In a recent interview, Lin Laishram shared her emotional journey with Randeep Hooda that finally ended in ‘I Do!’

In a candid chat with Hautterfly, Lin Laishram recalled how fate first brought her and Randeep Hooda together. Her paths with Randeep crossed for the first time in 2011, before she made her acting debut. It wasn’t love at first sight, but there was an undeniable spark. Randeep immediately offered her help navigating the industry. Lin shared:

“We met in 2011. I had just returned from New York, where I was still modelling. I wanted to get into acting, so I went to Naseeruddin Shah sir’s production house, and that’s where I met him… So one day, he helped me with casting directors and what I should be doing. That was our first conversation, and I felt very genuine about him as a person, about this guy who helped me immediately without even asking what I could do for him.”

The wounds of the COVID-19 pandemic are still fresh, with lockdowns having brought the world to a sudden halt. However, for Lin and Randeep, that period became a turning point. They began living together, gradually adjusting to each other’s lifestyles, and ultimately finding a sense of peace and comfort in one another. She shared:

“During the COVID time, we started actually living together. I was not used to living with somebody, he was also not used to living like that, so there was a lot of adjustment. But both of us felt so easy during the COVID-19, we were saying ‘arey, yeh toh acha hai’. But we found our home and peace in each other during that time.”

Even after finding comfort and love with Randeep, Lin couldn’t shake off her doubts about choosing him as a life partner. Her concerns weren’t about their compatibility, but rather the cultural differences and conflicting expectations from both their families. Still, through it all, Randeep remained by her side, offering unwavering support. Lin revealed:

“I wanted to get married, but I was not sure if this was the right person because when you get married late, there’s a lot going on in your head… My parents, they would keep saying ‘get married to a Manipuri boy’, or Randeep's parents would say, ‘you should only get married into a Jaat family’... But ultimately, I found my space, which Randeep really helped with, making me feel comfortable in whoever I was.”

After overcoming the initial doubts, Lin and Randeep’s wedding was worth the wait. After 12 years of dating, the couple tied the knot in a beautiful Manipuri ceremony, surrounded by love, tradition, and the journey they fought to protect.
