Leah Lewis has finally broken her silence regarding the allegations against her Matlock co-star, David Del Rio. The actor is being accused of s**ual assault by Leah, who has claimed that David harassed her back in September 2025. The allegations came to light days before CBS officially let David go from the series. The incident reportedly occurred on the Paramount parking lot, and David was removed from the set on October 2, 2025, the same day the report was made. After Leah Lewis filed an official complaint against David Del Rio, CBS fired him from the series. Hours after the news broke, Leah Lewis took to her Instagram handle to share a small update about how she is doing and expressed her gratitude for the support she has received. Leah posted a photo of herself and her mother hugging.
She penned a heartfelt note that portrayed her resilience amid the ongoing situation. Leah Lewis shared that her mother was there, and they were moving forward with love and strength. She also thanked her fans for the support they have shown her and stated:
"Mom is here, we're moving forward in love and strength. I'm in good hands. Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we're moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Please, let that be the takeaway."
CBS was quick to act on the allegations and immediately launched an investigation into David Del Rio. As a result, David's character 'Billy Martinez' will be written out of the legal drama. According to reports, David and Leah were frequently featured together in the first season, with their characters portraying young lawyers working alongside Kathy Bates' 'Madeline "Matty" Matlock' and their boss, 'Olympia Lawrence', essayed by Skye P. Marshall.
After the incident, production on the second season of Matlock was resumed with the season set to premiere on October 12, 2025. However, due to a pre-planned break, the show will go on hiatus next week and resume in November 2025 after Thanksgiving. Despite the difficult situation, the network has prioritised the safety of its actors and ensured that production moves forward as planned, with adjustments to accommodate the loss of David's character.
