Lane Kiffin, the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, has fans hanging on by a thread as they wait with bated breath for him to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. Everyone wants to find out finally which of the three options, Ole Miss, LSU, or Florida, the coveted coach will choose. Even as LSU isn't pulling any punches in trying to land him, Ole Miss is trying hard to retain him. Amid this, a reporter's derogatory comment about him reached Lane's ears, and he responded. Now, the reporter has hit back again, hinting at Lane Kiffin's decision.
Ben Garrett is a reporter who has extensively covered Ole Miss for many years. He also has a podcast, Talk of Champions, where he covers all football-related content. A few days ahead of the Egg Bowl, Ben quoted the song lyric of Ludacris, which goes, "Can’t turn a h*e into a housewife; h*es don’t act right", to refer to Lane Kiffin's supposed job-hopping ways. The reporter said this amid the head coach deciding whether to stick with his current role or move on.

Tensions were already very high during the Egg Bowl match between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. However, instead of cooling off post-game, Lane took the drama up a notch and confronted Ben Garrett for his comment. After giving a byte on his career decision to another reporter, Lane was leaving the sidelines. However, he turned back after spotting Ben and approached him to confront him. With a lightly veiled warning, Lane Kiffin said to him:
“You want to walk in here and call me a h*e? We’ll see how that goes."

The video of Lane Kiffin getting up in Ben's face to call out his comment has gone viral. People called out the reporter for not standing up to Lane, and some even made fun of him for looking a little meek. However, Ben took to the mic again to clarify what he meant by his sentence and also explained why he stayed quiet when the head coach got angry at him. Along with that, Ben has hinted that he is certain that Lane Kiffin is leaving Ole Miss. The reporter then challenged Lane to prove him wrong by staying with his current team. Ben said:

"Number one, I didn’t call ain’t given a h*e. Great sentence, and it’s true. I used the metaphor clunkly...I regret my role and how this turned out. I do not regret the metaphor because it’s apt. You want to prove me wrong? Stay.”

Ben Garrett recently took to his X account and shared a cryptic tweet that said, "Don’t save him, he don’t want to be saved." Although it isn't clear who the note was directed at, people think that, given the timing, Ben took a jab at Lane again.
