Landman Season 1 captured viewers' hearts since its premiere a year ago on November 17, 2025. For those who were looking forward to its second season, after a whole year of waiting, the first episode of this season was released on November 16, 2025. As of now, the show, available to stream on Paramount+, has 3 episodes out. With the neo-western drama steadily developing its plot this season, Landman's co-creator, Christian Wallace, has teased some "real interesting trouble" for the character 'Cooper Norris', who is played by actor, Jacob Lofland. Here's what he said.
Season 2 of Landman, which recently premiered on November 16, 2025, has been garnering a lot of praise from both audiences and critics alike for its outstanding and realistic portrayal of the oil industry. This is not all; this season, with its compelling narratives, also features incredibly strong performances by actors such as Billy Bob Thornton, Jacob Lofland, and Andy Garcia, among others. The new season, which will reportedly have 10 episodes in total, has already rolled out its first 3 episodes on Paramount+.

These episodes have already seen some major developments, one of them being Jacob Lofland's character, 'Cooper Norris', landing himself in some serious hot water, although unknowingly, by teaming up with Andy Garcia's 'Gallino' on his new oil venture. What 'Cooper' fails to realise is that his new partner is a cartel boss. Referring to this misstep made by 'Cooper', Landman's co-creator, Christian Wallace, opened up to Entertainment Weekly about how "it's going to make some real interesting trouble for him". He further stated:
“But just the fact that we get to see more of Andy in this season and what he brings to the show is so fun and great. It sucks for Cooper in certain ways, but it's great for us as the audience to see how their entanglement is going to play out as the season rolls along.”

For those unversed, it is in the second episode of this season that ‘Cooper' reveals to his dad, ‘Tommy’, played by Billy Bob Thornton, that he has teamed up with a company out of Odessa to help him finance his oil wells. This company is allegedly named Sonrisa. After hearing about his son's deal, it rings a serious alarm for ‘Tommy’. Soon after, he does some digging into the issue, and he finds out that ‘Cooper’ has unknowingly partnered up with ‘Gallino’. Noting how this is a pretty crazy development, Christian states:
“It doesn't really tickle you to death when you learn your son's gonna work for a cartel guy,” Thornton says. “It’s pretty, pretty crazy. I mean, Tommy has a whole lot of ‘you got to be kidding me moments,’ and that'll definitely be one of them.”

Aside from the show's co-creator, Christian Wallace, actor, Jacob Lofland, who played ‘Cooper’ on the show, has also revealed what he thinks of ‘Cooper’s’ actions. According to him, ‘Cooper’ “has no idea” what he has gotten himself into by joining forces with someone like ‘Gallino’. He states:

“He was looking for any way he could to make this work, and that’s what he did. And I think now he goes back and has to figure out you can't always rush into things. You really have to do your research and know what you're talking about — which is what Tommy's been telling him through all out of the first season — and you really have to have your understanding of things before you jump off.”
At this stage, Jacob further added that ‘Cooper’ is in a state of “free-falling right now”, and he hopes that his fall is broken by a safety net somewhere. Jacob revealed that this season has been immensely fun, especially since it led to a lot of learning, both personally and character-wise.
