The confession has shocked the entire nation, and once again, concerns over women's safety in India are dominating the news headlines. In a heart-to-heart conversation with Barkha Dutt, the actress-turned-politician admitted that no matter whether it’s a boy or a girl, every child, who has experienced sexual abuse in their lives, is scared of people for life. Talking about the life-long impact of sexual abuse, Kushboo Sundar talked about her own father and shared how he sexually abused her and used to beat her mom. Revealing the details of the gruesome tragedy, she said:
"I think when a child is abused, it scars the child for life and it’s not about a girl or a boy. My mother has been through the most abusive marriage. A man who probably thought it was his birthright to beat up his wife, beat up his children, sexually abuse his only daughter. When my abuse started I was just 8 years old and I had the courage to speak against him when I was 15."
Further, in the interview, when Kushboo Sundar was asked why she hadn't told her mother about the shameful act that her father had done with her. Opening up about the same, the BJP politician explained that she was fearful and scared of the fact that her mother wouldn’t believe her. Kushboo explained that for her mother, her husband was a 'devta'. Despite getting beaten up and treated badly by her father, her mother was his devotee. However, Kushboo revealed that after she turned 15, she started revolting against her father and recalled how her father left her and her mother on their own. She said:
"One fear that stayed with me was my mom may not believe me because I have seen her in that environment where there was ‘kuch bhi hojaye mera pati devata hai’ mindset. But at 15 I thought that it was enough and I started revolting against him. I was not even 16 and he left us with whatever we had and we didn’t know where the next meal will come from."
