Apart from her professional front, Kunickaa has always garnered the spotlight for her personal life. Kunickaa has had a fair share of relationships. In fact, Kunickaa’s affair with renowned singer, Kumar Sanu was once the talk of the town. A while ago, Kunickaa gave a befitting reply to trolls for sharing her and Kumar Sanu’s AI-generated image.

A while ago, Kunickaa Sadanand took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle and slammed trolls for sharing her and singer, Kumar Sanu’s AI-generated picture. In the note, Kunickaa mentioned that Kumar Sanu is happily married and has kids. Reacting strongly to the trolls, she mentioned to stop dragging the singer and her personal life into fandom wars. She also told the user to take down the post and reported defamation against the person. She wrote:

"Sharam karo, this man is happily married and he has kids, you should also know he has personality rights given to him by the court; you will get into trouble for this. Stop dragging him or my personal life fandom wars. Give the due respect to a persons rights. I’m reporting you for defamation, take this down."

In the 90s, Kunickaa Sadanand’s affair rumours with married singer, Kumar Sanu made headlines. At the time, Kumar Sanu was going through a rough patch in his marriage. He found solace in Kunickaa’s company, and soon they fell in love, and the duo started travelling all over the world for his concerts. She also managed his finances, his bills and his responsibilities towards his family. In a past interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa revealed that the singer was very disturbed when she met him for the first time. She said, "I was like a wife to him. I considered him my husband."

In a 2025 interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa’s son, Ayaan, talked about her affair with Kumar Sanu. Ayaan revealed that Kunickaa was 27 when she had an affair with Kumar Sanu, and it lasted for a few years. He mentioned that his mom genuinely loved the singer, but she doesn’t love the man anymore. Recounting one conversation with his mom, Ayaan said that once he asked his mom, Kunickaa, about Kumar. Ayaan added that her mom called Kumar Sanu her 'soulmate'. Ayaan was quoted as saying:

"People are saying that the affair lasted 27 years, but what she actually said was that she was 27 years old when it happened. It lasted a few years, and she had me when she was 35. She genuinely loves the artiste. She doesn’t love the man anymore, I can promise. And my mother isn’t the obsessive type. It isn’t an ego thing. When I googled him and asked her about him, she said, 'He was a very important man in my life. I used to look at him as a soulmate, and everyone should experience that kind of love once in their life. It was toxic. Very, very toxic.'"

During one of the episodes of Bigg Boss 19, Kunickaa herself opened up about her affair with Kumar Sanu. She was sitting with her fellow contestants and confessed that she had kept their affair hidden for many years. She revealed that they were together in a live-in relationship. She added that Kumar Sanu was seeing another woman when they were in a relationship.
