Kumar Sanu, a.k.a Kedarnath Bhattacharya is one of the most legendary singers of the Indian playback industry. Apart from delivering some iconic and chartbusting numbers, Sanu has also created a wholesome collection of individual albums and songs, which people love to hear even today. Moreover, in the year 1993, Kumar Sanu made a record in the Guiness Book Of World Records by recording 28 songs in one single day. Unfortunately, with so many years of undying contribution, Kumar Sanu hasn’t yet been bestowed with any National Award for recognising his talent. And now, the singer opened up about the same.
In a recent interview with Aaj Tak, Kumar Sanu opened up about having not received any National Award, and reflected how it has affected him both as a person and an artist. The talented singer mentioned that although he considers himself worthy of such achievements, nevertheless, it’s upto the authorities to decide at the end. Moreover, he shared his beliefs that for gaining such accolades, one must have enough influential approaches, and should also master the art of buttering, sadly neither of which he ever had. In his words:
“The thing is I should have definitely gotten a National Award. I should have been given a Padma Bhushan. But I do not bother. It is up to them. It is certainly an honour, and it hurts. It hurts definitely but now I am used to it. If you do not have enough approach and even buttering skills, you cannot get these awards. You get awards only when you have the approach, it is difficult to get these awards normally.”
