Samantha Ruth Prabhu saw a fairytale-like happy ending with her first love, Naga Chaitanya. After a decade of being in love with him, followed by four years of marital bliss, it turned into a tragic story after they parted ways just four days before their fourth wedding anniversary. While Naga Chaitanya chose silence to deal with the murmurs and speculations, Samantha decided to express her emotions and hurt openly in public. However, in 2024, she transformed her wedding gown into a revenge dress. Now, Kresha Bajaj revealed the reason for the same.
Samantha got married in 2017 to the love of her life, Naga Chaitanya. Her wedding gown was the most special and it had floral detailing. However, after her divorce, Samantha in 2024 re-wore the gown after it was transformed into a pretty black revenge dress. The designer of the gown, Kresha Bajaj, finally shared the reason behind recycling the piece.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Kresha Bajaj revealed the reason behind turning the emotional piece into a revenge dress. Kresha stated that it was a deeply personal memory stitched into something new. The actress wanted to reclaim something which was deeply personal to her, and she felt honoured to be part of the process. Kresha further added that the idea wasn't to erase the past but to acknowledge it with grace and transform it into something unique and beautiful. She was quoted as saying:
"That piece was more than a garment—it was a memory stitched into something new. Samantha wanted to reclaim something deeply personal, and I felt honored to be part of that process. We kept the essence intact—the soul of the original outfit—but reimagined it with intention. It wasn’t about erasing the past but acknowledging it with grace and transforming it into something unique."
During an interview with Galatta India, Samantha revealed her side of the story, and shared the reason for chopping off the most important memory, which reminded her of her past. She stated that when a woman goes through a divorce, there's a lot of shame and judgment attached to her. She is being called second-hand, used, wasted. Samantha said:
"The reason why I did that is because I don't know, I can't speak about men so I'm speaking for women. When a woman goes through a divorce, there's a lot of shame and stigma attached to that. I get a lot of comments saying second-hand, used, wasted life, and you are supposed to be pushed into a corner, where you are supposed to feel like you are a failure, you are supposed to feel guilt, you are supposed to feel shame that you were once married, and now you are not. I do believe it can be really, really hard for families and girls who have gone through that. Hard for the girls, and hard for their families as well."
Samantha further added that things changed for her, and it wasn't a fairytale anymore. But she didn't want to cry about it and sit in the corner. So, it wasn't a revenge thing, which people assumed. However, Samantha accepted that it looked like one, but she just wanted to show that she is not hiding her pain, which means a new beginning. She said:

"And I wanted that to be a kind of it wasn't any kind of revenge or anything. I know people, it really wasn't like any kind of that, although it looked like it, it wasn't. It was that, yes, this has happened and I know it, I am not trying to hide from it, this is it. That doesn't mean my life ends there, it begins where it ends. And I am very very happy right now."
