Konkona Sensharma, daughter of actress, Aparna Sen, has proved her finesse as an actor by becoming one of the most critically acclaimed actresses in the Indian film industry. She has always focused on being a method actor. Years ago, the Bengali beauty and VJ-turned actor, Konkona had found love in another method actor like her, Ranvir Shorey, who is also the most underrated actor in the film industry. It was in 2010 when Konkona and Ranvir had tied the knot and a year later, the couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their son, Haroon. Unfortunately, their relationship wasn’t meant for a ‘happily ever after’ as five years into married life, Konkona Sensharma and Ranvir Shorey had mutually decided to part ways after facing problems. Since then, Konkona and Ranvir have been co-parenting their son, Haroon and finally, in the year 2020, the estranged couple was granted the divorce. In February 2020, Konkona and Ranvir had filed for divorce after undergoing detailed counselling and in August, the couple were officially separated.
The former couple, Konkona Sensharma and Ranvir Shorey came together to celebrate a milestone in their son, Haroon’s life. To mark their little one’s tenth birthday on March 15, 2021, Ranvir posted a ‘happy’ family picture with the ex-couple holding up their hands to denote the number 10 and smiling for the camera. The birthday boy looked adorable in a blue t-shirt, holding both his hands up to denote that he’s now ten years old. Ranvir captioned the picture as “10! Happy Birthday, Haroon! You light up our lives!”
Konkona Sensharma and Ranvir Shorey had worked in films like Aaja Nachle, Mixed Doubles, Traffic Signal and he was also a part of her directorial debut, A Death in the Gunj. In a conversation with the contributor at Rediff.com, Ranvir had ruled out the possibility of working with Konkona. He had said, “I doubt that. With the first one (Konkona's directorial debut, A Death In The Gunj), she made sure I was a part of it, but we were separating at the time. Even if the bitterness is there, it should not spill over to the child's life. That is more important for me. Whatever steps we take, they have to be right for Haroon.” (Also Read: Mira Kapoor Shares A Sun-Kissed Selfie And It Has Left Hubby, Shahid Kapoor Stunned)
When asked, “Do you get to spend enough time with your son Haroon with your busy schedule?” Ranvir Shorey had retorted, “I make sure because he is my lifeline. I can't live without him too long, so I always make time. When his mother and I are not working, he stays with us every alternate week. If she is working, he is with me. If I am working, he is with her. He is my number one priority. My world revolves around him.”

As presumed and expected by the society, there are a set of gender roles for men and women. But just how the society is progressing, so are the gender roles. Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey are a prime example of it as in 2017, he had spoken about co-parenting their son, Haroon post their separation and how he had come up with the idea of their little one having two happy homes instead of one unhappy house. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, speaking about being a hands-on father, Ranvir had said, "It’s about changing gender roles. So, Haroon has two homes now and half the time he’s at my place and the other half with his mom."
Speaking of how they had tried to provide a balance to Haroon's life and nurturing their little one equally ever since his separation with Konkona Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey had remarked, "With women stepping out and taking on new roles, the time has come for men to step out of their stereotypes too. I’m more patient and my cooking has improved too. Since Haroon’s mom is usually busier than I am, we came up with this idea. It’s not so much about spending a few hours bonding with my son as it’s about child rearing."
