Falling out of marriage or love doesn't necessarily means you hate your estranged partner. Sometimes we need to accept that life happens and two hearts, who used to beat for each other, are not meant to be together forever. Eventually, everything falls into place. Known for breaking the stereotypes and shattering the glass-ceilings, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey had left their fans wondering why they had decided to part ways and denied us a disclosure. Daughter of actress, Aparna Sen and one of the most critically acclaimed actresses in the Indian film industry, Konkona Sen Sharma focused on being a method actor and proved her finesse as an actor. On the other hand, Ranvir Shorey is the most underrated actor of the film industry. Even though as the supporting character, Ranvir always managed to stand out amongst some bright performances which made the audience realise his worth as an actor. The Bengali beauty and VJ-turned actor, Konkona and Ranvir had tied the knot in 2010 and had become parents to a baby boy in 2011. But five years into married life, Ranvir and Konkona's relationship had hit the rocks and they had mutually decided to part ways.
Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey had mutually separated in the year 2015 and have been successfully co-parenting their son, Haroon since then. Now, five years after mutually parting ways, Ranvir and Konkona are finally granted divorce. According to a Times of India report, a source has informed ETimes, "They came and left separately but nevertheless, this is one of the most peaceful divorces that one has seen in a long time. There is absolutely no animosity between the two. Sad of course that they couldn't reconcile as a couple but who can control destiny?"
In February 2020, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey had filed for the divorce after undergoing detailed counselling. The source continued, "It's not that Ranvir and Konkona didn't try to remain together, both even underwent detailed counselling- but it just didn't sort out." While senior lawyer, Kranti Sathe's daughter, Amruta Sathe Pathak represented Konkona, Ranvir was represented by senior advocate, Vandana Shah. Amruta confirmed the divorce and said to TOI, "Yes, Konkona and Ranvir are now divorced. It was done very amicably." As presumed and expected by the society, there are a set of gender roles for men and women. But just how the society is progressing, so are the gender roles. Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey are a prime example of it as in 2017, he had spoken about co-parenting their son, Haroon post their separation and how he had come up with the idea of their little one having two happy homes instead of one unhappy house. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, speaking about being a hands-on father, Ranvir had said, "It’s about changing gender roles. So, Haroon has two homes now and half the time he’s at my place and the other half with his mom."

Speaking of how they had tried to provide a balance to Haroon's life and nurturing their little one equally ever since his separation with Konkona Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey had remarked, "With women stepping out and taking on new roles, the time has come for men to step out of their stereotypes too. I’m more patient and my cooking has improved too. Since Haroon’s mom is usually busier than I am, we came up with this idea. It’s not so much about spending a few hours bonding with my son as it’s about child rearing."
