Why Didn't Robert Kardashian Marry Priscilla Presley? Know How Her Ex-Husband Elvis Had A Role In It

Hollywood has never been short on love triangles. But only a few were as scandalous or unexpected as the one involving Priscilla Presley, her ex-husband Elvis Presley, and attorney, Robert Kardashian. Decades before the Kardashian-Jenner clan became a global reality TV empire, Robert found himself in the middle of one of the most complicated romances of the 1970s. Jerry Oppenheimer's book, The Kardashians: An American Drama, throws light on how the King of Rock and Roll was the reason why his ex-wife could never walk down the aisle with Robert Kardashian.

Why did Robert Kardashian not marry Priscilla Presley?

Priscilla Presley legally divorced Elvis in 1973. Soon, she met Robert Kardashian through his brother, Tom. They instantly connected, and their relationship quickly became serious. Their family friend, Joni Migdal, told Jerry that Priscilla used to make Robert happy. The attorney wanted to marry her and have children with her. It was definitely his hope and plan with her for the future. But Elvis continued to cast a shadow. According to Jerry Oppenheimer, Robert became frustrated with how often Elvis would call his ex-wife, sometimes while Robert and Priscilla were together.

Joni recalled that Priscilla would even let Robert listen in on the conversations to prove she had nothing to hide. However, it was difficult for Robert to accept their bond. Another close friend, Larry Kraines, told the author that while Kardashian found Priscilla 'terrific', he often complained that "this guy Elvis doesn't stop controlling her." Elvis's attachment to Priscilla was tied to their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and his role as a father. Meanwhile, Robert had some traditional expectations that clashed with Priscilla's independence. He allegedly hoped to turn her into a domesticated housewife, which was unacceptable to her, and their marriage plans never materialised.

Elvis, Priscilla, and Robert Kardashian's love triangle was followed by tangled relationships

The tangled relationships didn't end there. The Hollywood circle surrounding this love triangle grew even smaller over time. During the mid-1970s, Elvis was dating Linda Thompson, who later married Bruce Jenner, Kris Jenner's future spouse. This made for an odd equation because Robert's almost-wife was Elvis's ex. At the same time, Elvis's girlfriend would go on to marry the man who became stepfather to Robert's children. After years, Linda also married David Foster, who was a stepfather to Gigi and Bella Hadid, both friends of the Kardashian family.

Priscilla Presley and Elvis had a whirlwind romance

Before Robert came into the picture, Elvis and Priscilla met in 1959 when Elvis was in Germany and Priscilla was just 14. They married in 1967 and became parents to a daughter, Lisa Marie, at the same time. But after six years of togetherness, affairs, and personal struggles, the duo divorced in 1973. But even after the split, they shared a cordial bond. Robert used to complain how the King did not stop 'controlling' Priscilla. However, Priscilla made it clear to her friends, that she wasn't going to marry anyone while Elvis was still alive. Robert then married Krish Jerry in 1978, and Elvis died tragically in 1977.
