Kirti Kulhari first hogged the limelight with her stellar role in Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu starrer, Pink. The actress had given her best shot in the movie, and despite the same she was sidetracked when the film was being promoted. Her experience also affected her bond and equation with Taapsee Pannu, as it was overwhelming for Kirti. Recently, the actress expressed how her relationship with Taapsee, who was promoted as Pink's face, was strained.
Kirti, in an honest interview with Fever FM, revealed being nominated for an array of supporting actress awards. She did not go to the award ceremony as she felt she was not a supporting but a lead actress too. The actress admitted that in the industry, stars have an acting and a PR game. Her PR game is zero. After Amitabh's role, Taapsee's character was of prime importance in the movie, and she became the Pink girl in the movie's positioning. This did affect Kirti personally and her bond with Taapsee got scarred. In her words:
"I think it did. I don't know from her side maybe she didn't notice it. She has been nice to me but that whole PR game, I took it a little personally. When I saw the trailer I had a bit of a meltdown."
Kirti even shared that when offered Pink, she did not think of who was big or small in the entertainment industry. She looked into the film as a story of three girls. Kirti shared she came from a space where she saw everyone was an actor. However, Pink made her feel like a small actress who got sidelined treatment. She blamed the people around her for making her feel that way.
When Kirti saw the movie trailer, she felt Taapsee was given the star treatment after Amitabh. Kirti took things personally and revealed she felt overwhelmed when she saw that the trailer of the movie was filled with Taapsee and Mr Bachchan. Kirti even revealed that the director of the movie, Shoojit Sircar, assured her not to worry and let the film come out as he never did any PR. An upset Kirti then said:
"However, during the promotions, the PR machinery happened for Taapsee because she came after Mr Bachchan (in terms of hierarchy) in that film. Eventually, it became her film and she became the Pink girl in terms of positioning and I saw that happening in front of me. This was the first shocker for me because I couldn’t understand this.”
Kirti revealed that after Pink, she learnt that she was clear about how she wanted to position herself in terms of future projects. She then bagged Mission Mangal, Four More Shots and shared that she told the filmmakers of the film that if she was not given equal positioning after Vidya Balan, she would not do the movie. Kriti learnt the bitter pill of the positioning game after her Pink experience.
