Kiran Karmarkar Fell In Love With His On-Screen Sister, Rinku Dhawan, Divorced Her After 15 Years

Kiran Karmarkar is a noted figure in the television world, and he is known for his intense performances on screen. The actor gained immense fame as ‘Om Agarwal’ opposite actress, Sakshi Tanwar in the show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. The show garnered the highest TRP on television, and every woman desired a husband like Om (played by Kiran Karmarkar).

Kiran Karmarkar played the titular role in Ekta Kapoor’s popular show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. The show not only made him a popular name in every household, but the actor met his life partner, Rinku Dhawan, in the show. Rinku played Kiran’s on-screen sister, ‘Chhaya Agarwal’ in the show. Kiran and Rinku fell in love during the show, got married in 2002, and embraced parenthood with the arrival of their son, Eshaan.

What led to Kiran Karmarkar and Rinku Dhawan’s divorce?

Sometime after their marriage, cracks started appearing in Rinku and Kiran’s life, and the couple indulged in constant arguments. In 2017, the couple kept their problems private and filed for divorce. Rumours began that the couple had been living separately.

In 2019, it was confirmed that Rinku and Kiran got divorced after 15 years of marriage. Once, in an old interview with the Times of India, Kiran cited incompatibility as the major reason for their separation. Speaking about the same, he shared:

“Rinku and I weren’t compatible, and so, we thought it was best to move on. When we got married, obviously, we never thought that we would come to this point, because no one can predict the future. There are individuals stuck in marriages, and their fights go to the extent of hitting each other. Thankfully, Rinku and I have handled this well, and we are neither enemies nor are we dead for each other.”

After the painful separation post 15 years of marriage, Rinku and Kiran moved ahead in life and have been co-parenting their son. But looking at the past, Rinku recalled going through some of the difficult moments in her married life. In a candid conversation with RJ Siddharth Kannan, the actress revealed that the couple stopped sleeping together in the same room and said:

“Some discomfort began. Support, I should support, okay I will support. Bahut cheezein this yaar. Shayad shuru se hi thi, shayad identify baad mein hui, shayad unhone identify ki shayad Maine identify ki and it takes two to clap. And it just went on. I don't know yaar, then ek waqt aya we don't even sleep together in the same room."

Rinku Dhawan found comfort in someone else while being married to Kiran Karmarkar

Kiran and Rinku’s marriage was breaking every day, and both of them knew about it. She recalled waiting for him the whole day to tell him how her day went, and he would act as if he was asleep. Slowly, she realised that love was fading away. In an interview with TellyChakkar, Rinku stated that she stayed in the marriage because of her child.

The actress, who once loved to talk, found comfort in silence. However, she soon found someone to share her feelings with. But when Kiran found out about an email she sent to the guy, he got furious and created a big fiasco about it. He called everyone and told them about the guy. That was the moment when Kiran decided to shift to another flat. Sharing details about it in the same interaction, Rinku said:

“Then I connected with someone with whom I could share my feelings and problems and that was only an emotional connection where I would speak and he would listen as I felt lonely.”

Before entering the reality show, Bigg Boss 17, Rinku, in a candid chat with the Times of India, revealed her ex-husband, Kiran Karmarkar’s reaction to her participation. Speaking about the same, she said:

“My ex-husband Kiran and I still stay in the same society and before leaving for Bigg Boss I went to meet him. Chalo ab main Bigg Boss mein jaa rahi hoon, ab trophy laakar tumhare haath mein rakhungi and he wished me good luck. He asked me to do well in the show.”

Though Kiran Karmarkar and Rinku Dhawan are amicably co-parenting their son, the duo went through some of the toughest moments in the marriage.
