'Kesari: Chapter 2' Dialogues Copied? Yahya Bootwala Slams Makers For Stealing Lines From His Poem

Kesari: Chapter 2 has received immense love and critical acclaim upon its release. While the cast is basking in the success of the film, Ananya Panday's performance as 'Dilreet Gill' has left the audience unimpressed. The actress is being criticised for her acting and dialect in the film. Amid that, a poet, Yahya Bootwala, has come forward, slamming the writers for copying 'Dilreet's' lines from his original poem without permission.

Yahya Bootwala slams Kesari: Chapter 2 makers for stealing Ananya Panday's lines from his poem

Yahya Bootwala shared a video on his Instagram account, which featured a scene from the film, Kesari: Chapter 2. In the clip, Ananya Panday was seen delivering lines similar to those in the poet's original work, Jallianwala Bagh. The poet penned a note along with the video, targeting the film's dialogue writer, Sumit Saxena, and accusing him of copying his work without permission.

The note read that a clip from the film, Kesari: Chapter 2, was shared with Yahya a few days back. He added that the dialogues felt as if they were copied from his poem, Jallianwala Bagh, which he had published on YouTube over five years ago. He thus shared both clips and pointed out how they used the lines word by word without giving him any credit for the same. He was quoted as saying:

"So @nisoooooooooorg sent me a clip 4 days back from the movie Kesari 2 of dialogues he felt were copied from my poem, titled Jallianwala Bagh, published 5 years ago on @unerasepoetry YouTube channel. Here are the two clips and honestly, this is a clear copy-paste and it’s not like they’ve tried to hide it as well, matlab phusphusana jaisa shabd bhi uthaya hai. As writers, the worst thing you can do to a fellow writer is pick their material up, blatantly use it without giving credits and this is what I feel dialogue writer @sumit.saxena.35912 has done here."

The video was later taken down by Instagram

However, the video was later removed by Instagram. Yahya addressed the video being deleted from the social media account and posted another note about the same. In this note, he wrote that he had not removed the reel, but the video had been taken off. He added that he would continue to discuss the issue until the matter is resolved and promised to keep his followers updated on any developments.
