Each and every person has their own set of plans for their wedding ceremony. While some prefer to keep it low-key, some plan to make it a big fat wedding. However, life has yet again proved that it is unpredictable. A Kerala couple had planned their wedding, but destiny had some other plans as the to-be-bride met with an accident. What won our hearts was the sweet little gesture of the groom, who didn't step back and exchanged the wedding vows at the hospital.

Mishaps can happen anytime anywhere and to anybody. Recently, Kerala bride, Avani met with an accident just hours before her big day. Avani is a school teacher by profession and is employed at Bishop Moore School in Kerala’s Cherthala, Alappuzha district. According to multiple reports, the accident took place at the wee hours of November 21, 2025, when Avani was heading towards Kumarakom for bridal makeup. The car lost its control and hit into a tree. Local residents rushed the bride to Kottayam Medical College for treatment. However, as Avani got a serious injury in her spine, she was shifted to a private hospital named VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Ernakulam, Kochi for better treatment.

Hospital's emergency ward turns into a wedding venue

Avani and her groom, Sharon VM were all set to tie the knot on November 21, 2025 afternoon in Kerala’s Alappuzha. However, in a shocking turn of events, Avani met with an accident just hours prior to her wedding. According to multiple reports, the muhurat for the couple’s wedding was set between 12:15 pm and 12:30 pm. While many back off after facing such circumstances, it was Sharon VM and his family who has set a good example for the society. Both the families discussed and agreed to conduct the wedding ceremony at the auspicious time fixed.

The families consulted the doctors and the hospital authorities, who arranged a low-key wedding for the couple making their moment special. The groom tied a sacred thread, thaali to the bride in VPS Lakeshore Hospital’s emergency ward. The doctors ensured that Avani doesn’t face any additional discomfort. The couple exchanged vows in the presence of doctors, nurses and their close family members. According to multiple reports, Avani is a school teacher and Sharon is an assistant professor at KVM College of Engineering and Information Technology.

Private hospital's special gift to the Kerala couple

According to a report by Kerala Kaumudi, Avani’s spinal surgery was successfully completed on November 22, 2025 afternoon. The procedure was done under the supervision of Dr. Sudheesh Karunakaran, head of the Neurosurgery Department. The surgery began at 9:45 am on November 22, 2025. However, what stole the spotlight was VPS Lakeshore Hospital to Avani and Sharon. The authorities announced that the cost of Avani’s surgery and care will be sponsored by the hospital and this will be a wedding gift for the Kerala newlyweds.
