Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant made their relationship public in 2019, however they have been together years before that and met each other in 2011. Both of them collaborated on Keanu's book, Ode to Happiness. While the actor wrote it, Alexandra, who is an artist, was the illustrator. They teamed up again professionally in 2016 for another book called, Shadows as writer and illustrator. Apart from being life partners, they are also business partners, as they founded the publishing house, X Artists’ Books.

At the LACMA Art plus Film Gala 2019 in Los Angeles, Keanu Reeves became the talk of the town as he debuted his new girlfriend, Alexandra. The couple arrived together, holding hands, and confirmed their relationship status. However, Jennifer Tilly, Canadian actress and Alexandra's close friend, gave Page Six some insight into the new power couple's dating life. She revealed that their relationship was, in fact, not 'new'. Jennifer shared:
“I remember a couple of years ago, about a year and a half ago, Alexandra said, ‘Keanu Reeves is my boyfriend,’ and I’m like, ‘Wait. What? What? What?' It’s really astonishing to me how in the last five months, all of a sudden, she goes to an event with him and everybody goes insane, like, ‘It’s his new girlfriend'. It’s just suddenly surfaced that he’s been dating her for several years.”

Keanu Reeves' personal life has been one of loss and tragedy. The star lost his young sister to leukaemia. Then the actor and his girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, lost their baby, a stillborn daughter. A few months after this, Jennifer passed away after a car accident. Keanu had said during those tough times that sorrow and loss never disappear. But finding Alexandra has helped Keanu heal from his losses, many of his close people have said. The actor has expressed their happiness together. Alexandra also stated that her art has become 'happier' now. In 2023, Keanu said to People:
"We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together."

During a trip to Europe, Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant tied the knot in a private ceremony, as per a report by Radar Online. The couple had reportedly discussed marriage for quite some time. A source close to The Chosun Daily said:
“The wedding was conducted very intimately and quietly. The two had long discussed the form of their marriage but ultimately chose a gathering just for themselves.”
