After Katrina Kaif Said No One Dubbed For Her, Anees Says Her Diction Was Odd 'Got Her Voice Dubbed'

Katrina Kaif is one of the most talented actresses in the Hindi film industry. The actress began her career as a model and then ventured into the acting world. Although Katrina's acting journey has been a bit shaky in the beginning, with her dedication and hard work, she established herself and made herself stand out in the crowd.

Anees Bazmee said Katrina Kaif's voice was dubbed in Welcome after she claimed that no one dubbed for her

With a career spanning two decades, Katrina is one of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood now. Well, earlier, the actress stated that no one has ever dubbed for her. And now, Anees Bazmee claimed something otherwise and shared how the actress' diction sounded a bit odd in the beginning, which is why a dubbing artist had to work for her. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Welcome director, Anees Bazmee shared that for the movie, they got Katrina's voice dubbed, while for Singh Is Kinng, the actress herself dubbed her voice.

The director added that Katrina was learning then, and thus, they all thought to help her, but her voice was not that clear, and her diction sounded a bit odd. The director further mentioned that they thought of a backstory for the actress, saying that she had stayed abroad for several years but it sounded like manipulation. In Anees Bazmee's words:

"We got her voice dubbed in Welcome and in Singh is Kinng, she dubbed for herself. She was learning then. She would learn and work hard so we also thought that we should help her but her diction wasn’t very clear then so it sounded a bit odd. We thought of giving her a backstory that she has lived abroad all her life but it felt like a bit of manipulation so we decided to dub her voice."

When Katrina Kaif said no one ever dubbed for her

In an earlier interview with mid-day, Katrina Kaif was asked if anyone has ever dubbed for her. To this, she replied with a 'no', and mentioned that it's just hard work. The actress further shared that Jackie Shroff asked her to learn Devnagri, which was extremely important for her.

Talking more about the same, the actress added how she was handed over some scripts by several directors during her first few films, wherein Devnagari was used, and she never wanted to be in such a position wherein he would have to be puzzled about what to do. The actress further shared that she learned Devnagari first, and it saved her. In Katrina's words:

"It’s just hard work. It was hard work. I think it was Jackie Shroff who first told me to learn Devnagri and that was very important for me because in my first few films, at that time, the directors would write the lines on the set and give it to you. A lot of them would write in Devnagri and I never wanted to be in the position where I was like ‘What do I do?’ So, the first thing I did was to learn to read in Devnagri and that was the base which saved me."

Not only this, in an older interview with the IANS back in 2007, Katrina Kaif shared that she never appreciated someone else dubbing for her. She mentioned that whenever she watched her older films, wherein someone else had to dub for her, she felt that it was not her who was on the screen, and later than that when she finally started dubbing for herself, it gave her a bit relief as she sounded like herself.
