One of the biggest actresses of the 90s, Karisma Kapoor was a sensation back then, stunning the audience with her acting and dance moves. Hailed as one of the most gorgeous actresses in Bollywood, Karisma has taken on many bold roles throughout her career. Despite being born in the first family of Bollywood, the Kapoor khandaan, she had to struggle her way out to become a successful actress.
It is a common belief that daughters of the Kapoor family are not allowed to be part of the entertainment world, and actresses who married into the family eventually left acting. However, Karisma Kapoor is the first daughter to break the norm and began her acting journey at the age of 17. Daughter of Randhir Kapoor and actress, Babita, Karisma had made her debut with Prem Qaidi.
With films like Raja Babu, Hero No. 1, Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai, Biwi No. 1, Zubeidaa, and many more, Karisma’s career trajectory was unbeatable. When Karisma made her acting debut in Prem Qaidi, the actress faced a lot of scrutiny, and her swimsuit scene added even more controversy.
It was also reported that Karisma Kapoor’s uncle, Rishi Kapoor, wasn’t pleased with the swimsuit scene and voiced his disapproval over it. The veteran actor thought it was unnecessary for her to wear a swimsuit in her debut film. The reports also claimed that Rishi was upset with his niece over the same.
In a throwback interview, Karisma Kapoor addressed the issue with a fiery reply. The actress stated that people only remembered her performance in the film and not the swimsuit. In her words:

“When people saw Prem Qaidi’ and came out of the theatre, nobody remembered the swimming costume. Everyone was only talking of my performance in the film. To tell you the truth, what matters most to me is what my parents feel and think. If they didn’t have any objections, why should anyone else have? What did people want me to do? Wear a saree and jump into the pool? How stupid. And anyway, what’s wrong in wearing a swimsuit? Don’t other normal teenagers wear it?”
Although Karisma had made her debut with Prem Qaidi, the actress had wanted to begin her career with her grandfather, Raj Kapoor’s film, Henna, released in the same year. In a throwback interview, Karisma revealed that she would have loved to be part of Henna. But things did not work out, as the film had featured her chachu, Rishi Kapoor. The late veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor, had played the lead role in the film, and the family had thought that it would lead to various gossip about a niece romancing her uncle, which would not work well for either of the actors.
Rishi Kapoor had bid adieu to the world and left for the heavenly abode on April 30, 2020. On the same day, Karisma shared a childhood picture of herself with her grandfather, Raj Kapoor, and chachu, Rishi Kapoor. Along with the adorable picture, Karisma had written an emotional note for her Chintu chacha. Her note could be read as:
“Always looking over family… Chintu uncle will miss discussing food and restaurants with you.”
