'Karam' Film Review, Vineeth Sreenivasan's Action Film Shows Weak Writing, Uneven Narrative And Plot

Karam, released on September 25, 2025, is director Vineeth Sreenivasan's latest offering. The film stars Noble Babu Thomas, Ivan Vukomanovic, and Audrey Miriam Henest in pivotal roles. Centred around a serious subject like human trafficking, this action film had high hopes from fans. But all those hopes have been dashed as audiences have complained that the film lacks a good story and a captivating plot.

Karam suffers from bad writing and a script with many loopholes

Noble Babu Thomas, who plays the role of the protagonist, 'Dev Mahendran', is also the writer of the film. Critics and viewers alike have found his writing to be lacking. The story has too many loopholes and an uneven narrative. The central plot also lacks basic logic in many of the events that transpire in the movie. Coincidences are also used a lot to drive the plot home, but they end up making the plot weak.

Out-of-place humour and repetitive tropes in Karam

The plot of Karam follows former army officer, 'Dev Mahendran', who is on a mission to save his ex-girlfriend, 'Sana', from a human trafficking ring. As a result, a lot of the plot is centred around the dark and inhumane world of trafficking. However, ill-timed comedy and jokes come across as tone-deaf. Additionally, the jokes aren't sharp either. Apart from this, the film also suffers from repetitive scenes and tropes. As a result, most of the thrillers and mysteries become predictable after a point.

Netizens' review of Karam

People who watched the first day showing of the film are sharing their reviews online, and here's what they have to say. One X user said, "Karam: is easily Vineeth’s weakest film yet. Despite some impressive technical work, the flat writing & lacklustre performances drag it down. With anyone other than Noble, the lead might’ve had a spark".

While another user opined, "Worst in Vineeth's Filmography. Except visuals, there is nothing good. Direction, script, performances, action everything fails. Over dramatic & poor placement of humor. Noble & Ivan stoneface throughout. Whole music section is CRAP, outdated & overdose of same hum." A third user stated, "Except for the neat cinematography and a humor in a few scenes, nothing truly impressed me. easily Vineeth Sreenivasan’s weakest work."

Final verdict on Karam

There is consensus among viewers and critics that Karam lacks in many aspects. Especially, the writing and plot, being its weakest points, don't fare well for the watchability factor of the movie. However, the performances of the actors and the actresses tried to carry the film, but the uneven storyline sinks it. But fans of Noble Thomas Babu could still enjoy the film as he is at the centre of the complete story and dominates the screen most of the time. As per, whether is it worth a watch or not? The audience will be the judge of that.
