Kapil Sharma and Rajiv Thakur entered the entertainment industry at the same time. They have had a long association with each other and have been together through some of the biggest milestones in life. Rajiv, in a recent interview, got candid about the same and shared how they struggled to buy their first home in the city of dreams, Mumbai.
Kapil Sharma and Rajiv Thakur's friendship is one of the long-standing bonds in the storm the industry can be in. While they were just acquaintances when they entered the entertainment world, their friendship eventually grew stronger. So much so that after saving up some money, the duo decided to buy a house next to each other.
In a conversation with DostCast, Rajiv Thakur shared about their journey to buy a home in Mumbai. He recalled that they both had saved Rs. 50 lakh at the time and wanted to buy a 2 BHK apartment. However, a flat in Andheri was priced at Rs. 70 lakh. He added that by the time he and Kapil were able to arrange the amount, the prices had spiked to Rs. 90 lakh, and they had no idea about home loans. He further revealed that it was his father who gave them the idea to take a loan, which shocked them. Nonetheless, they eventually bought the home in Andheri. He stated:
"We were so poor that we didn’t know that one could avail a home loan. It never occurred to us that one can take a home loan. Kapil still stays in Andheri because he knows if he will move out of there, he will become lonely."
In the same conversation, Rajiv Thakur recalled how they had saved the same amount of money and wanted to buy a flat in Andheri. However, the rates were extremely high, and they couldn't afford the flat. He added that since the prices didn't fit their budget, they decided to find one in Malad. He was quoted as saying:
"We wanted to buy a flat. Back then, a 2-BHK flat in Andheri was at least for Rs. 75 lakh. We couldn’t afford that, so we headed to Malad."
Rajiv Thakur further revealed that he and Kapil liked the flats. However, their rates were extremely high. He added that he even lured a seller to lower the price by promising to buy three flats from them. However, when they returned to Andheri, where the majority of the work projects were, it took them over one hour, so they never returned to the dealer. He shared about the house hunting and stated:

"Kapil and I would buy one each, and we would find someone to buy the third. He said Rs. 54 lakh for the flat, and I brought it down to Rs. 45 lakh based on the promise that we would buy three flats. But when we were returning to Andheri, it took us about one and a half hours. By this time, we decided we were never returning here."
