The popular comedian, Kapil Sharma is promoting his recently-released film, Zwigato, in full throttle. The actor is leaving no stone unturned in the marketing of his film, which has received a big thumbs up from the audiences so far. In the film, Kapil plays the role of a food delivery man, who struggles to make ends meet. The movie is directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Nandita Das and is termed as an emotional rollercoaster by film critics so far. In the film, Kapil is starring opposite, Shahana Goswami.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kapil Sharma opened up about the darkest phase of his life, which was back in 2017 when he was going through a lot of setbacks. From his film, Firangi making zero impact at the box office to his comedy reality show, The Kapil Sharma Show going off air for a while, everything came crashing down for Kapil in 2017. It was a traumatic phase for the comedian, who had seen so much success in his life. Opening up about the same, Kapil admitted that he had struggled with anxiety, depression and alcoholism.

Further, in the interview, Kapil Sharma admitted that it was undoubtedly one of the most challenging phases of his life. The comedian explained how it was the first major dip in his career, and there were times when he used to think that his career was over in the entertainment industry. However, he admitted that during that menacing phase, it was his then friend, now wife, Ginni Chatrath, who played the most important role in terms of getting him out of that situation. Recalling how his wife decided to take him out of Mumbai so that he could heal mentally without being constantly worried about media and work. He said:

"When you try to make things better, they just get worse because you are not at peace. So, in such times, you stop and wait. I did the same. I might not have done this, but Ginni came to Mumbai."

In the same interview, Kapil Sharma also recalled how Ginni Chatrath had decided to live with him so that she could help him come out of depression. The comedian admitted that it was a big step for Ginni to live with him even before their marriage and added how she didn’t hesitate for a second. Calling her a ‘courageous woman’, Kapil admitted that if it wasn’t for Ginni, he wouldn’t be out of the darkest phase of his life. While complimenting her for the same, Kapil said:

"The courage that she showed is bigger. She belongs to a well-to-do family, but in our families, it’s a big thing for a girl to live with a boy before marriage. I don’t care if we will get married or not, you get well, and then I will go back. Uska bohot bada haath tha mujhe nikaalne me..it was a bad phase."

When Kapil Sharma was asked how he deals with negativity and social media bullying, the comedian explained how he no longer worries about what people are saying or writing about him online. The actor clearly stated that all he cares for now is his family. Sharing how his wife, kids, and mother are his life’s biggest priorities, Kapil said:

"Ever since I have returned, there are a lot of things that have stopped affecting me. I don’t care about what people are writing about me on social media. Main theek hun, meri family theek hai, meri maa theek hai..basss."

On the professional front, Kapil Sharma’s film, Zwigato is currently playing in the theatres.
