The prequel takes the audience back to the roots associated with 'Shiva'. Rishab portrayed the role of 'Berme', one of the ancestors of 'Shiva'. Now that the film has been creating a stir with its gripping storyline and performances, let’s dive in to find out what happens at the end of the drama.
Kantara: Chapter 1, the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster film, Kantara, is set a thousand years before the original story began. The drama takes the audience back to the land of Kantara, where a major conflict breaks out between the tribe and the Bangara kingdom. Rishab Shetty portrays the role of 'Berme', the brave leader of the Kantara tribe, while Gulshan Devaiah plays the role of 'Kulasekhara', the new king of the Bangara kingdom.
The story shows how 'Berme' and his tribe secretly enter the kingdom, leading to a big tussle between the two groups. The film revolves around the fierce battle as the Bangara kingdom tries its best to take control of Kantara’s rich jungle resources, and 'Berme' fights to protect his people and land. Later, when Daiva entered the body of the tribal warrior, 'Berme', the king of the Bangara kingdom, 'Kulasekhara', was killed.
The climax of Kantara: Chapter 1 begins with 'Berme's' shocking realisation that 'Kanakvathi' (played by Rukmini Vasanth), 'Kulasekhara's' sister and his ladylove, was the real mastermind behind the conflict. In order to fulfil her selfish motives and capture the powers of Kantara’s sacred daivas, 'Kanakvathi' makes the plot of the fight. This resulted in 'Kulasekhara's' death and also brought damage to the tribe. Using black magic, she plans to destroy Kantara, even summoning her grandfather’s evil spirit to possess, 'Vijayendra' (played by Jayaram).
This sets the stage for the final showdown. Possessed by a protective spirit called 'Guliga', 'Berme' gets involved with 'Kanakvathi' and 'Vijayendra' in a fierce battle. He dives into the mysterious circular pit where he was found as an infant, to seek the daiva’s blessings. When 'Kanakvathi' refuses to be touched by a man, 'Berme', with the power of 'Chavundi' or 'Chamundi', transforms himself into 'Ardhanarishvara', a half-man, half-woman form, to defeat her. In the final showdown, 'Kanakvathi' gets killed, and 'Vijayendra' also meets his end.
