Kangana Ranaut Was 'Unwanted Child', Old Interview Surfaces As She Defends Status Of Women In Family

Kangana Ranaut made headlines yet again as she defended Indian joint families and women's status within it. It seems like an indirect remark on Sanya Malhotra's film, Mrs, which highlights the emotions of women who have gone through patriarchial issues once in their lives. Amidst it, Kangana's old interview surfaced, wherein she revealed that she was the unwanted child and her parents always told her the same.

Kangana Ranaut revealed she was the 'unwanted child' in her family

Kangana Ranaut, in an interview in 2016, revealed that she was the unwanted girl child who grew up constantly being told that she was the unwanted one. Kangana herself demanded that the portrayal of Indian women as 'selfless', who only care about the happiness of men, should be stopped.

Recalling her family's status, Kangana shared that her parents had a child before Rangoli, who died within 10 days of his birth. He was considered a hero, as her parents were unable to get out of the loss of their baby boy. Later, Rangoli was born, and she was hugely celebrated. She said:

“My parents had a child before Rangoli, who died within 10 days of his birth. He was called Hero. My parents couldn’t emerge from the loss of that baby boy. But then Rangoli happened and she was taken care of, there was a huge celebration."

Kangana further revealed that when she was born, her parents, especially her mother, weren't happy about having another baby girl. On top of it, her parents often told her these stories in detail in front of guests and relatives. She said:

"But when I was born, my parents, my mother especially, couldn’t come to terms with that fact that they had another baby girl. I know these stories in detail because every time a guest visited, or there was a gathering, they repeated this story in front of me that how I was the unwanted child."

Kangana, who has often portrayed strong women-centric roles in films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, revealed that it was hard to live in such an environment. She was often reminded that her existence was never needed. Kangana was quoted as saying:

Kangana Ranaut took a dig at Sanya Malhotra's film, Mrs and defended the women's status in joint family

Kangana Ranaut sided with the men after Sanya Malhotra's Mrs leaves the Misters uncomfortable. Kangana revealed that she had never seen a woman who didn't come to her house, and they were the ones ordering everyone and telling their husband how to spend pennies. She urged people to stop generalising Indian joint families and comparing women of the house with paid labour and the joy of building a home and raising a kid as forced labour.

Well, it seems like Kangana's perspective of women changes with situations! What do you
