Kangana Ranaut On Her Praise For Vikrant Massey After Calling Him 'Cockroach,' 'Who Am I To Judge?'

Kangana Ranaut has quickly cemented herself as one of the most versatile actresses in the Hindi film industry with her power-packed performances in films like Queen, Tanu Weds Manu, and Fashion, among others. After multiple delays, her latest project, Emergency, which stars her in the lead role as former Prime Minister India Gandhi, has finally hit theatres. Amid the excitement for the same, Kangana Ranaut addressed her praise for Vikrant Massey as an actor, whom she once referred to as a 'cockroach.'

A few years earlier, Kangana Ranaut and Vikrant Massey had a feud of sorts, but as of now, they seem to have buried old grudges. Kangana recently opened up about praising Vikrant after seeing The Sabarmati Report on Shubhankar Mishra's Unplugged podcast. Kangana firmly stated that she didn't believe in caging or labeling people and said:

"When I saw The Sabarmati Report, I told him that I liked his work. We must understand that every person has a potential to change. We shouldn't cage them or label them. Doing that is the biggest toxicity in Hindi cinema. They want to label everyone, and then just stop interacting or communicating with people not aligning to them."

Kangana Ranaut further added that she wasn't the type to carry baggage and judge someone by their past actions. However, she also made it clear that she would never hold back from calling a spade a spade. In Kangana's words:

"Who am I to judge him or anyone? Whatever capacity they are engaging with me, I will respond accordingly. There is a chance that he (Vikrant) can go back to feeling the way he did before the film. But having said that, it is much better than being so strict with your ideology that it makes you feel constricted and caged."

After Yami Gautam dropped a series of wedding photos on her IG handle, Vikrant Massey pulled her leg and commented, "Pure and pious like Radhe Maa." The comment didn't go down well with Kangana Ranaut, who is from Himachal. She replied to Vikrant's comment and called him a 'cockroach,' penning, "Kahan se nikla ye cockroach. Laao meri chappal." 

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Vikrant Massey was asked about Kangana's comment. To this, he said that he doesn't pay much attention to the same and tries to be at a distance from the toxicity. He further added that he doesn't use X that much, and thus, what he feels to be right is to be ignorant about all this noise. He further called social media the worst public discourse platform and cited a quote about his favourite Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius:

"You really pray for the ignorant. The only thing you can do for the ignorant and unaware is to pray for better sense and wish them the best in life."

When Kangana Ranaut praised Vikrant Massey's performance in 12th Fail

Kangana Ranaut also heaped praise on Vikrant Massey for his performance in 12th Fail. She took to her IG story, sharing the film's poster, and wrote a lovely note commenting on Vikrant's 'beyond amazing' portrayal of a rural boy. Kangana noted her similarities with Vikrant's character, stating that she, too, came from 'Hindi medium' and belonged to a rural village. Not only that, like his character, she was also a general caste student for entry tests without reservations during her schooling. Kangana further added that the relatability of the film and Vikrant's performance had her bawling her eyes out on a flight.
