Kamal Haasan is at the receiving end of appreciation for his recent film, Kalki 2898 AD. He began working as a child actor in the entertainment world and ever since has never failed to express his passion for cinema and acting. He has collaborated with many superstars after working in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and several Hindi films. But Kamal always admired the late actor, Dilip Kumar more than other actors. In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla Masterclass, the actor revealed the details of his first emotional encounter with the legendary actor, Dilip Kumar.
Kamal Haasan was impressed and awe-struck by Dilip Kumar's work. He admired the legendary actor's work, including his film, Ganga Jumna. Kamal had the privilege of meeting Dilip Kumar a few days after the film's release when he got teary-eyed and shook his hand with the Mughal-e-Azam actor. He was quoted as saying:

"I met Dilip Kumar Saab two days later, and that was the silver jubilee celebration of Ek Dujhe Ke Liye. And I shook his hands, and I almost had tears in my eyes because the effect of Ganga Jumna was still on me."

However, Dilip Saab frowned when Kamal Haasan said he loved his work in Ganga Jamna as he got confused on what Kamal meant. Recalling the situation, Kamal Haasan added:
"He frowned. 'What's he trying to say? A very clever quip about my acting or what it is. Why is he talking about Ganga Jamuna'. Then I had to explain to him quickly that I am catching up on his work. And what he had done 20 years ago hit me like a thunderbolt."
Legendary actor, Dilip Kumar has inspired several actors who entered the industry to made their mark, such as Amitabh Bachchan. However, Kamal Haasan only had the opportunity to see Dilip Saab's work much later because, due to political reasons, only a few Hindi films could make it to the south. But, when the Kalki 2898 AD actor saw the work of Dilip Kumar, he was mesmerised by them. In Kamal's words:
"He is one of the greatest actors India has ever produced and way advanced than most actors of his times. He is very international and it took me some time to understand. And because of various political reasons, Hindi films were scarce. So I caught up with Dilip Kumar films much later."
