Kamal Haasan On Being Questioned About His Two Marriages, Despite Following Lord Ram, 'His Father..'

Kamal Haasan is a well-known actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and playback singer, among several other of his skill sets. The actor has worked in multilingual films, including those in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Bengali. He is considered one of the greatest actors in the history of film industry. However, his personal life has remained as intriguing to his fans as his professional endeavours. 

Kamal Haasan on getting married twice despite being a devotee of Lord Ram

Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan TR (Simbu) have recently been promoting their upcoming film, Thug Life. The film is directed by Mani Ratnam, and the promotions for it are in full swing. However, during the promotions, the actors were asked to share their thoughts on marriage. Kamal Haasan also spoke about his stance on getting married twice. 

During the conversation, Trisha Krishnan responded by stating that she doesn't believe in marriage. She shared that she doesn't believe in the constitution of the act, and for her, it's okay if it happened; if not, then she would be fine as well. However, when asked about the same, he cited an incident involving MP John Brittas from over 10 years ago. 

Kamal Haasan revealed that over a decade ago an incident happened with his good friend, MP Brittas. He recalled that he was in the company of a bunch of college students when MP Brittas asked him how he could get married twice despite following Lord Ram. To which re responded by stating that he doesn't pray to any God, and he was most definitely not following the path of Shree Ram. He was quoted as saying:

"This happened 10-15 years ago. MP Brittas is a very good friend of mine. He asked me around a bunch of college students, 'You're from a good Brahmin family; how did you get married twice? ' I said, what does being from a good family have to do with marriage? He said, 'No, but you pray to Lord Ram, so you live as he lived.' Firstly, I don't pray to any god. I don't follow Ram's path; perhaps I follow his father's (Dasharatha) path (who had three wives)."

Kamal Haasan's past relationships

Kamal Haasan married the dance, Vani Ganapathy in 1978. The duo collaborated on Melnaattu Marumagal in 1978. However, they got divorced a 10 years later. The actor then married actress, Sarika, in 1988. The couple share two beautiful daughters. Shruti Haasan, born in 1986, and Akshara Haasan, born in 1991. However, their marital bliss was yet again shortlived and their divorce was granted in 2004 after being filed two years prior. Kamal later dated actor Gautami from 2005 to 2016. His name is linked to several actresses, but the only other relationship that he has acknowledged is with the legendary South Indian actress, Srividya.
