Singer, Kalpana Raghavendar 'Didn't Attempt Suicide' Reveals Daughter, Calls It A 'Slight Overdose'

Playback singer, Kalpana Raghavendar left the entire film industry shocked after she was found unconscious at her residence in Hyderabad. The singer was being treated at Holistic Hospital in Nizampet, Hyderabad. However, fans and the singer's dear ones were worried for her as speculations went rife that Kalpana had attempted suicide.

Kalpana Raghavendar's daughter, Daya Prasad, clarifies her mother didn't attempt suicide

While Kalpana Raghavendar is not in the state to make comments, her daughter, Daya Prasad, has come forward with an explanation of what really happened that night. Daya spoke with the media at a press conference held at the Holistic Hospital. The singer's daughter revealed that her parents are happy, and her mother is certainly doing well and pursuing various academic and work projects. She added that Kalpana was struggling with severe insomnia for which she was prescribed sleeping pills.

However, on the day of the incident, March 4, 2025, when she returned from Ernakulam, she struggled to fall asleep. According to Daya Prasad, Kalpana Raghavendar took multiple pills, which further took a turn for the worse. She revealed that Kalpana had initially consumed eight pills. However, when that didn't work, she took ten more, which led to her losing consciousness. And the situation escalated when she didn't respond for two days, prompting alarm bells to ring. She was quoted as:

"She is perfectly fine and happy and healthy now. My Amma is a singer; she is doing her LLB and also doing her PhD. So because of that, she has insomnia. To treat her insomnia, a doctor prescribed her a tablet, and she had consumed that in an overdose. She had overdosed slightly. This is not a suicide attempt, it's just a slight overdose because of stress like general life stress."

In the same press conference, Kalpana Raghavendar's daughter, Daya Prasad, requested the media not to manipulate any information. She assured the media that her family was fine and they were happy. She also informed the press that her mother would be back in a few days. She was quoted as:

"Please do not manipulate any information. Our family is perfectly fine. My mom and dad are happy. I am happy. Everybody is perfectly fine in my family."

Kalpana Raghavendar was found unconscious in her villa

ABP Desam reported that Kalpana Raghavendar, who lives in a villa in Hyderabad, did not open the door of her home for the past two days. This alerted the security, and they contacted the singer's neighbours. Consequently, police were informed about the incident, and opened the door to Kalpana's villa and found her lying unconscious. 

She was immediately rushed to the Holistic Hospital in Nizampet, Hyderabad. According to sources, Kalpana's condition is stable, but she is kept on ventilator support. On the other hand, her husband, Prabhakar, who lives in Chennai, rushed back after learning the news.
