Kalki Koechlin Shares Being Denied Entry At Award Function As She Came In Swift, 'I Do Spend Money'

Anurag Kashyap's former wife, Kalki Koechlin, is best known for her roles in Ranbir Kapoor's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Hrithik Roshan starrer, Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara, to name a few. Kalki did prove her worth in the entertainment industry, but surprisingly, despite her prominence, the actress was stopped from entering award functions many times as she came in a small car. However, it didn't made Kalki change her ways as she does not believe in image building at the cost of giving up on needs.

Kalki Koechlin shares that she has been stopped from entering award functions due to her car

It was in 2024 when there were a lot of debates happening related to the entourages of stars. During a recent interview with Aleena Dissects, Kalki revealed how stars take extreme measures to keep up with their public image and also shared how she was stopped at an award function just because of her car. Kalki revealed how she had to take the pressure of maintaining a glam image and due to this, she could not adhere to the rules that literally cost her a price at the gate. In her words:

"For years, I arrived at the Filmfare Awards in my Swift, and my dress would be bigger than the car. People would stop the vehicle and wouldn’t let it enter the venue, and then I had to show my invite and say, ‘It’s me.’ That’s just who I am — I value freedom and everything else that comes with it. I don’t want that kind of lifestyle because I want to be spontaneous."

Kalki also shared that opportunities come less when one does not have an entourage, as there is very little chance of being spotted and only one gets followed by a few people. Kalki also revealed that she has issues at the airports as she dedicates 1.5 hours at the airport to her fans, as they want back-to-back selfies.

Kalki Koechlin reveals image buiding is important

The actress did agree that to a lot of extent building an image was important just like having good public relations. She revealed that having a set of bodyguards and PR's for the safety of the stars was important. Kalki while revealing about the length one went to maintain one's image, shared:

"I know people who live in a tiny 1BHK but drive an Audi. They’ll show up to meetings in an Audi with a driver, but they live in a small hole. For me, freedom is really important. I do spend money — but on living in a beautiful house in Goa and flying back and forth to Mumbai. That’s where all my money goes.”

Kalki who was married to Anurag Kashyap got divorced and then found love in Guy Hershberg. It was in 2020 that the couple was blessed with a daughter, Sappho and at the moment the couple stays in Goa with their daughter. During an earlier interview with the ETimes, she shared that it was Guy's calm personality that attracted her to him. It was one of the main reasons that made the actress fall for Guy. Kalki also shared that her current partner is very defensive if anyone tells anything about her. On the work front, the actress was last seen in the Tamil romantic movie called, Nesippaya which has been directed by Vishnuvardhan.
