President Droupadi Murmu recently hosted a banquet in honour of the Indonesian president, Prabowo Subianto, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. During the special gathering, which also commemorated India's 76th Republic Day, a delegation from Indonesia made headlines for putting on a nostalgia-inducing performance of the classic Bollywood track, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The memorable moment also earned a reaction from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress, Kajol.
President Droupadi Murmu's banquet hosted the president of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and several senior ministers. President Subianto's attendance marked his first State Visit to India. His visit was made extra special when a delegation from Indonesia belted out the iconic Bollywood song, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai — a heartfelt gesture that also symbolised Bollywood's global influence.
As videos of the special moment started going viral online, they caught the attention of none other than Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's lead actress, Kajol. She took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to gush about the delightful tribute in a note that read:

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai first hit theatres on October 16, 1998, and was written and directed by iconic filmmaker, Karan Johar. In fact, the film marked Karan's directorial debut and featured a legendary cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles as well as a special appearance from Salman Khan. The film, which became a cultural phenomenon that redefined Bollywood romance, intertwined themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery, which were then portrayed in two contrasting narratives.
The film's first half follows the vibrant college lives of 'Rahul' (Shah Rukh Khan), his tomboyish bestie, 'Anjali' (Kajol), and the charming 'Tina' (Rani Mukerji) he initially falls head over heels for. 'Rahul's' idea that "love is friendship" played a significant role in shaping his relationship with 'Anjali.' However, his new-found feelings for 'Tina,' whom he would eventually go on to marry, left her heartbroken. The second half of the story then becomes a tale of loss and reconciliation, with 'Tina's' post-humous letters to her daughter, Anjali Khanna, setting the stage for a reunion between an older 'Anjali' and 'Rahul.'
