4 years ago, when Kabir Bedi had celebrated his 70th birthday, he had also entered the bond of holy matrimony for the fourth time with Parveen Dusanj. His marriage announcement came as a surprise to many, and in reaction to his tweet, Pooja Bedi, who skipped the wedding for obvious reasons, had replied, “Every fairy tale has a wicked witch or an evil stepmother! Mine just arrived! @KabirBedi just married @ParveenDusanj”.

On January 16, 2020, Kabir Bedi turned 74 and on this special day, he opened up about the debut of his granddaughter, Alaya Furniturewalla. In conversation with a leading media portal, Kabir spoke about Alaya’s big Bollywood debut in Saif Ali Khan and Tabu starrer Jawaani Jaaneman. Kabir believes that Alaya is an unbeatable combination as the starlet has prepared herself for her next two movies too. On January 3, 2020, with the release of Alaya’s first look in the film, Kabir had tweeted, “CONGRATULATIONS to Alaya F, my grand-daughter, on her debut film, “Jawaani Jaaneman”, with the dashing Saif Ali Khan playing her father, releasing on Jan 31st! Keep the family flag flying, Alaya All my blessings.”
As soon as the Jawaani Jaaneman trailer released, it created an excitement in the audience for two reasons – one being Saif Ali Khan and Tabu coming together as a couple for the first time and the other being debutante, Alaya Furniturewalla, who added the spice in the film. Alaya is the first star kid, who will be making her debut in 2020 and going by the trailer, we are really looking forward to seeing her on the silver screen. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Alaya spoke about the most-talked-about word in the industry, nepotism and said, "We need to realise that even in our struggle, we are privileged. If we got rejected in 10 auditions, someone else has got the thumbs down 100 times. Their struggle is greater than ours. But just because I’m privileged, doesn’t mean that I’m not going to do what I love and work hard at it." Alaya Furniturewalla also mentioned how she prepared to face the limelight and how the mistakes of her contemporaries gave her learning, "Sara, Ananya (Panday), Tara (Sutaria), Janhvi (Kapoor), among others, are all extremely talented in different ways and together we’ve so much to offer. I respect everyone and have watched all their interviews several times to learn from their mistakes and take a note of their good points. I’ve also learnt to see them in the limelight."
Speaking about her childhood in a throwback interview with SpotboyE, Alaya Furniturewalla had remarked, “My childhood was very different. My mother (Pooja Bedi) was very strict with me. Academics had to come first. It was like 'first do well in your studies and then go out to have fun'--- that was always the rule. So that’s what I did. I kept my grades up and everything was great. Now I study at New York University.” When asked if she misses her grandfather, Alaya had retorted, “I am still on very good terms with him. We meet very often. I don’t like fighting with people.”
Revealing how frank she is with her mother, Pooja Bedi, Alaya Furniturewalla had replied, “I can tell her anything about my life. But do I tell her everything about my life? No. I am not the kind who will go up to her mother and tell her that I have a crush on someone. For me, that’s awkward. Not because my mother will say that it’s not your age to have boyfriends but if she asks me if I have someone in my life and if there is someone, I will admit to it.” (Also Read: Aamir's Daughter, Ira Khan Reveals She Never Wanted To Be Open About Her Relationship With Mishaal)
