Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan are one of the most-loved on-screen pairs in Bollywood. The duo have recorded so many years of partnership as co-actors, and has delivered some of the most iconic hits at the box-office, including Duplicate, Darr, Ram Jaane, Yes Boss, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and much more. Apart from being colleagues, Juhi and SRK are also business partners for the IPL cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Truly, with the passage of time, Juhi and SRK have emerged to become friends like family for one another.
In a recent interaction with Rajeev Masand, Juhi Chawla talked about one of the most traumatic and devastating phase of her life, when she lost her mother in 1998 in an accident. The actress at that time, was in Prague, busy with the shooting of her film, Duplicate, along with Shah Rukh Khan. Recalling those tormenting times, Juhi remarked that apart from her husband, Jay Mehta, it was none other than Shah Rukh Khan, who supported and consoled her tremendously at that point in her life. Talking about his small efforts to divert her mind a bit, Juhi recalled:
“Shah Rukh was with me when we were there. And I remember just being totally devastated. And to try and forget about it, I would just jump into work so that… And Shah Rukh would try and make us all laugh, like he always does, he does it to everybody and he would just make sure that I was around and he’d keep it all happy and stuff and that’s how I got by.”

In another interaction with the Hindustan Times, Juhi Chawla credited Shah Rukh Khan were consoling her with utmost care during the harshest time of her life. The diva remarked that he resonated with the very pain of losing a parent, since he too had gone through the same at one point in his life. In her words:
“He was the person who consoled me, as he had seen his parents pass away before that and knew the pain of losing a parent. So, he was trying to make me laugh and forget things.”
Continuing in the same interaction, Juhi explained how the pain of losing her mother was so unbearable to her, that she preferred going back to work and resumed the next two projects of her, which were along with Shah Rukh as well. The actress revealed she would look forward to the day, since she knew that SRK would keep her amused with his happy-go-lucky antics, and making her feel that it was as if a complete bad dream.

In the concluding segment of the interview, Juhi Chawla reminisced the last few moments that she spent with her mother. The diva mentioned that her mother had accompanied her to Prague for her shooting, and on the very first day, they had attended Karan Johar’s birthday. The next day, Juhi remembered that her mother went for a walk and never came back. She narrated:
“We had reached Prague and it was Karan’s [Johar] birthday the next day, so my mother and I bought a gift for him. Next morning, before I went for the shoot, she left for a walk and never came back. It was very traumatic because just a day before we had reached there and three days later, after she met with an accident, we were bringing her back in a coffin. It was devastating for me.”
