Josh Hartnett was hospitalised following an alleged collision between an SUV in which he was riding and a Canadian police car. According to reports, the accident happened last week, on September 25, 2025. However, the incident was kept under wraps to avoid unnecessary publicity. Now, the actor's rep has shared a statement about his well-being as reports reveal what happened.

According to reports by CBC News, Josh Hartnett was riding in an SUV when it was reportedly struck by a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle in St. John's, the capital of the province of Newfoundland, Canada, on Thursday. The reports stated that a 59-year-old man was the driver of the SUV at the time of the collision, according to the RNC's statement.

A representative for Josh Hartnett confirmed to PEOPLE that the actor was checked out at a nearby hospital and then released, cleared to return to work. The two-vehicle collision happened at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. local time on September 25, 2025, in Newfoundland, Canada. The male police officer in the other vehicle was taken to a hospital as a precaution, police said. 

According to a statement by the RNC, their collision analysts are seeking witnesses or any video footage of the accident. They have requested that people reach out to them if they have a clip of what happened on September 25, 2025. The statement by the team could be read as:

"RNC collision analysts are seeking any witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to, or immediately following the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000."
