John Abraham Calls Stylist Being Paid Rs. 2L Per Day 'Mental', Says, 'How Much More Will You Suck..'

John Abraham recently sat for a conversation with Hollywood Reporter India, where he opened up about the condition of Hindi cinema. He highlighted how the industry suffered due to the exorbitant fees charged by actors and the elaborate costs of their entourage. He stated how the industry had bled dry and the stars needed to reconsider their costs and demands.

John Abraham calls stylists charging such huge amounts 'mental'

The Satyameva Jayate actor, John Abraham, called stylists charging Rs. 2 lakh per day 'mental'. He further urged his co-actors to introspect to the dire condition of the industry, which was now 'bleeding'. During his conversation with Hollywood Reporter India, the actor stated that they should not pay people to act in films because they can't justify those huge budgets. He stated:

"It's already hurting Hindi cinema. At this point of time, we shouldn’t be paying people to act in films because we don’t justify those huge budgets. The huge fees that we get paid, and we can’t load a film with entourage costs as well. It’s ridiculous. Don’t know if actors are thinking this way or is it their agent making them think differently. I understand you are put in a bubble, but you can’t be so daft. You need to see the real world. If people are blowing sunshine from your backside, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. As an industry, we are really suffering."

John Abraham suggested that the actors need to cut down their fees

In the same conversation, John further suggested that before making any other changes, it is important that actors cut down their fees. He urged the actors to be open to hearing from their respective directors if they are even worth the amounts they have demanded. John added that the actors want to broadcast their fees, which is the worst thing to do. He stated:

"The first thing to make amends is to cut your personal costs. When a director tells you that you aren’t worth that much, you need to take that in cognizance. We don’t have that thought yet. We compare ourselves to other actors, and we want to broadcast our fees, and that’s the worst thing to do."

John Abraham on the power of storytelling and good content

John further emphasised the need for actors to acknowledge that the industry is in crisis. He also called out producers for paying massive fees to actors in hopes of a good opening. He added that the industry's biggest issue was their failure to focus on the content and power of storytelling. He stated:

"Actors should admit that we are down the deep black hole, and actors should go to the backend and work on the film. Actors should say that if the films make a profit, we make profits because we have earned our millions. How much more will you suck the system dry? But producers are all willing to pay those obscene amounts as well. Make films, don’t make proposals. Today no actor can get you any opening. Get your content right and cast actors according to the script."
