Jim Sarbh has made a name in the entertainment industry with his varied and unconventional choice of roles. His diverse roles in major hits like Padmaavat, Sanju, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Rocket Boys, and Neerja have earned him recognition. However, it's not just his acting that's making headlines, but also his unfiltered thoughts, particularly his previous comments on actors’ exaggerated processes.
On June 29, 2024, Jim took to his official Instagram account to address the controversy. He clarified that his comments were not aimed at his Padmaavat co-star, Ranveer Singh. In a note, he explained that these remarks were made during Made In Heaven season 2 promotions, five years after Padmaavat's release. Jim also reiterated his respect for Ranveer Singh, stating:

“I find this almost absurd to have to clarify, but since folks are running wild with the videos and the articles. Nothing I said refers to Ranveer Singh. The video byte being shared is from Made In Heaven season 2 promotions, 5 whole years since Padmaavat came out. 5 years. I only had lovely things to say about Ranveer as a co-actor - look it up. I still do.”

Further, on the same note, Jim shared that his comments were not an attack on actors or the process but on those actors who tend to exaggerate about their process. The actor also added that we often meet people who brag more about their work than actually doing it. Sharing the note, he captioned the post as:
“I usually don’t respond to speculative videos and articles, because they’re boring, and I assume people know better. Of course, just like some of you, I assumed wrong. Too many people have forwarded me things, and now journalists/interviewers are ‘identifying’ me as a ‘critic,’ despite me never having mentioned anyone at all, let alone @ranveersingh. ‘Spiders’ by System of a Down.”

Earlier, Ranveer Singh had said that he was impacted after playing Khilji’s character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 film, Padmaavat. He had shared that he would lock himself in his house to get into his character. Meanwhile, in an interview with Quint, Jim Sarbh said that there are actors who would say that they had to get mental therapy after portraying a role but won’t even know their lines during the shoot. In his words:
“There are all those actors who are like, you know, I was so stuck in my character that I had to get mental therapy for weeks after. I was like, shut up bro. You didn’t even know your lines on the day, what nonsense.”

Moreover, recently, Prashant Narayanan, during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, labelled Ranveer Singh as a ‘liar’ and said, “Woh jhoot bol raha hai. Yeh dark spaces mein jana, yeh sab karna yeh bakwas ki baatein hai.” After such a statement, Nawazuddin Siddiqui came out in support of Ranveer Singh and defended the actor.
